Marijuana investing?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by MovieManiac010, Apr 5, 2015.

  1. Hey guys,
With weed getting it's stigma finally destroyed, it seems like a no-brainer that people start investing in it, right? How would one go about this, and are there any real success stories from you guys or on the media of people getting rich from a plant that only half a decade ago was still getting people locked up! Also, has anyone realized how the majority of the key investors in marijuana is the same kind of men that profit from other things? Rich, white businessmen. Is this right for a plant that has got so much of us in trouble for them to suddenly profit behind the scenes?
    Please discuss!
    Cheers!

  2. Ugggh, I hate when a thread that starts with, "Discuss!", like we're a bunch of kids. Wait, many of the people here ARE a bunch of kids, lol.

Investing in marijuana because you believe in it is very noble, but if you are sinking your funds into it as an investment strategy opportunity, you're risking a lot - especially the growing of it domestically. Those who started growing large amounts of marijuana in the United States did so as a result of the disappearance of imported weed, which used to be smuggled in on a regular basis and was the vast majority, well over 90%, of the weed being smoked.  If it is totally legalized in the United States, it is very possible that Mexico and other Central American countries will be the suppliers of the marijuana once again.  This will mean that, except for certain specialty strains, the domestic growing businesses that were in place will not be able to compete with the prices for recreational weed.  There is no way to forecast, at this point, if that is going to happen, but if weed is legalized in the United States and Mexico, our friends south of the border will no doubt do very well in the marijuana market.  We could someday see weed imported from SouthEast Asia, hash from Nepal, Tibet, Afghanistan, etc., and this would be fine with me - and a lot of other people as well.
