Atlantic Canada Outdoor Growers Thread

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by Feutegraf, Apr 5, 2015.

  1. Hey guys! I'm kinda new to the Maritimes (living in Moncton N.B. currently). I've grown in Ontario (Ottawa area) for many years with great success (except for the year that my entire crop was either stolen or raided by the police). I kinda took a couple of years off after that season where I lost everything and hopefully I've learnt from my mistakes and decided that this season will be my first Atlantic Canada outdoor grow. I'd love to hear from other growers in the area and what their experiences have been.

Since this is my first time growing in this climate I decided that it's probably a good idea to start with some easy to grow strains that flower in late September as apposed to ones ending in October, so I went with Northern Lights (a great beginner strain that I've always had good luck and large yields with), White Widow (another easy to grow strain with a high THC percentage) Ice Wreck (I just picked it because it had the highest THC percentage of all the strains at the seedbank and it flowers in September so I thought why not) and a bag of mixed mystery seeds (just because they were cheap and I always liked surprises :))

Anyways, I've been having problems making new topics or even posting anything with this app on my iPad for a long time so I'm already about a month into my grow already so I'll post some pictures of my progress to date in the following posts...

  3. Correction on my last post, the one labeled 3 weeks is actually 2.5 weeks, the following is 3 weeks...

3 weeks (here's an example of one of the 25 mother plants, all between 3 and 4 colas high)

My first topping of the plants (and a few with my first attempt at the F.I.M method)

  5. Nice looking start you have going there!

I'm over on PEI and have had one season growing so far. I put out a few plants for personal use. I have major insomnia issues so tried for a strong indica. Had mixed results due to animals who like to tip over pots, and a very unexpected foresting project on an already clear cut lot (long story). I had a couple survivors though that grew tall and healthy with huge buds. I tried Indica Diablo for that year. Like you, for this year I have chosen Northern Lights and White Widow. For pretty much the same reasons too, so it will be interesting to see how you make out. [IMG]

  6. Thanks, I actually gave them their first feeding last night (20-20-20) and transplanted them into some larger cups...in a couple weeks I'll be taking the first clones from them and immediately putting them on a flowering light cycle so I can determine their sex before I put them outdoors.

  7. 6 weeks (Plants switched from T5s to 1000W MH)

*Sorry for picture quality the MH color temperature makes my plants look yellow in pictures and over exposed because of how bright the light is.

  9. So I ordered my seeds from Crop King Seeds (http://www.cropkingseeds.com) this year. Anyone who has ever ordered from them know that they always add free seeds with every order. On top of seeds I payed for they threw in 5 free feminized White Widdow and what I thought were 10 free regular Northern Lights. Well last week I got a surprise when checking in on the grow room when I see that all the NLs are covered in flowers. This being my first time growing AF's I'm seeing the pros and cons of the type. The Pro is that I'll have some weed early while I'm waiting for my outdoor plants to begin harvest, that and they don't require a separate room for flowering because they flower at a specific time and I don't need to switch my light schedule for them to bloom. The Cons are that the yield will be considerably smaller and also because of the short veg cycle I'm unable to do any topping or supercroping like I usually would with my plants because they don't have enough time to recover from these techniques to increase your yield. For those reasons I think in the future I'll always grow some AFs on the side while I grow my regular feminized seeds to go outdoors and only if I have enough room in the grow room because I see these as like my appetizers while I wait for an amazing smoked Prime Rib that's been slowly cooked and expertly cut...dang now I'm hungry...anyways, happy growing yo
