  1. I am 5'6 150 so not looking to lose or gain weight just stay in shape

    Sunday: Lower body lift
    Monday: Upper body lift
    Tuesday: active rest
    Wednesday:active rest
Thursday: 30 minutes of stair climbing + full body workout using my own body weight
    Friday: active rest
    Saturday: Hiking

Is this enough or should I do more?

  2. as long as you eat well, this is plenty of exercise to stay in shape. the only thing i would suggest is to add a rest day between your lifting days rather than two in a row then two rest days in a row.

i would throw in 30 min of yoga here and there.

  3. It all depends on your goal, so what are your goals?

  4. Spread out the sat-monday stuff

I dont know how hard you "hike" but I agree with guy who said rest in between the lifting

  5. What do you mean by active rest?
In my opinion you have too many rest days

  6. I thought an active rest was the idea of continuing to be active during a set rest....

as in... keeping yourself moving, not sitting down, or actually resting stationary inbetween sets to keep o2 flowing to get lactic acid out of your muscles faster... slowly pedaling a cycle bike, walking around the track, just not stopping a more aerobic activity in between

other than that if its just to stay in shape that doesnt seem bad... as suggested throw in some full on long stretch sessions or some yoga

  7. Providing you have decent nutrition, this is more than enough exercise to maintain your current fitness level. As others have suggested, it might be advisable to alternate lift and rest days. Your body needs 48 hours for proper recovery.

    Carry on!

  8. I'm pretty sure active rest for the OP means doing a form of cardio or staying active that day, yet not specifically training any muscle group.

Splitting the workout days with an active rest day is probably a good idea like they have mentioned as well. Even though different muscles are being used on the two days, with your schedule there isn't a reason you shouldn't utilize the extra rest for your body.

  9. That's enough I think. Carry on.

  10. I think you need to reconsider your question. Is it enough for you? Do you feel good/satisfied with your level of fitness and body image? Do you enjoy what you're doing? Are you getting enough recovery?

What is considered "enough" is relative to your goals and abilities. Would this routine be enough for a professional boxer? Well, no. But for someone else such as yourself it could be.
