    Although there is ample greed on all fronts, and war is a way to make money, to give Islam the benefit of the doubt and assume that they do not have people among their ranks who are extremely interested in conquering the entire world,  is foolhardy.   Islam, today, is desperate to expend if not outright take over everything.  Once the oil business "tanks",  their upper classes will be very hard pressed for easy money, and the religious zealots will overrun their empires and go berserk with wars against the infidel - which is us.

    Governments protect their people from other governments who want to hurt the aforementioned people because of their government.
     
    But like I said in a different post, government reflects the people. And not the other way around as Yuri claims.
     
    If the people are paranoid and malevolent, the government will be to.

    No matter how transparent our security forces appear to be.The fact is they are not!
    They were created to be secret and shady lol

    I agree that they can get out of hand,but what's the alternative.leave it to cops to thwart terrorists?

    Even if the government wasnt around you think all of our expensive military gear would just go *poof* and disappear? We would still have the stuff to defend ourselves from foreign invasions

    Two points here. Firstly, cops have little if anything to do with thwarting terrorists, i take you to mean the whole Homeland Security apparatus in general.

    Secondly, what or who is a terrorists? Seems to me a terrorist is one who intends on and acts to take away my life and/or liberty as a free person.

    The very same people who claim to be defending life and liberty are the ones most guilty of violating them

    I meant if its not left to the security forces,the alternative is the police,and they arent exactly filling me with confidence.

    A terrorist is anyone who comes to my country and plans to maim or kill me.

    As for our military,i consider them very professional. Shame they arent used better.
