So blades, I've been gone for quite a bit of time and this is my first post in a year. or is it 6 months? shit maybe less, but it feels like its been a while. i dont even know man, but it's good to be back in the city. So i have a situation i want some other blades advice on, particularly those blades and bladies that have been jumped, robbed, or even had successful CL trades for bud or items in exchange for bud. Found a guy on CL, has tons of Blue Dream shake with decent looking pop corn buds in it. From the picture it just looked like the last of a large harvest, nothing too special, probably outdoor shit. So I text this guy, ask him if he's interested in any trades or if he is looking for certain items, and says he'll trade pretty much anything of value for the bud he has. Cool, let him know what i have, some old computer stuff mostly. He replies and asks what i want for it, i told him for everything i'd take 14-28 grams for everything. this is when i start getting sketched out, little by little. we talk about a meeting and he replies "im down tonite....do u have any cellphones?" i tell him no phones to trade, but i will have my cell on me to let him know when i'm there. then he asks me about the amount, and says "so you want a half to a full unit right?" i tell him i thought we were talking more in the quantity of grams and not oz's, but im cool with that if he's willing to give that much for everything, after all it is shake and pop corn buds. talk more about the meeting place and he asks "what kindof phones u guys bringin?" i tell him again.... "i don't have any phones to trade man, just the stuff i put in the list" "oh my bad man, what all are you bringing again?" i list it off, for the third time, and at this point im getting annoyed, its late and if im meeting anyone tonight i want to get it over with before it gets any later. then he replies with this "oh alright cool, just bring that and ANYTHING ELSE of value you might have" thats when i tell my brother fuck it, i dont want to drive 45 minutes out to the ghetto to meet some guy that i already feel sketchy about. its nearly 9pm, its dark, and im high and want to sit back. So, fellow blades, am i paranoid, or does this seem sketchy to you too? i mean, i know i'm paranoid, but am i over reacting? I've met plenty of people on craigslist to trade/buy weed from. never had any bad feelings, even when going deep into the ghetto at night. All i know is, i bail when im sketched out. i rarely get bad feelings about people from CL, never actually had a bad exchange, whether it be weed related, computers, ipods, phones, game consoles. but tonight was different
Yep x 1000. Sketchy as fuck. No idea where you live or if you want to share that, but assuming weed is a big illegal thing in your state, I'd assume that some cops were trolling on CL and you bit. Not because of the weed* but because of them always going back to cell phones and they bit off your worthless computer equipment. Yeah, it's old, so it's worthless, you know? Don't take that as an insult. But they were interested in old computer shit and also said they'd be interested in ANYTHING of value. Nobody wants anything of value unless they're trying to lure people in. The thing with the cells is they're trying to kill a couple birds with one stone here. Not only are they getting someone wanting to trade for weed, but i they start getting into things like phones (because who's going to have 30 extra cells or whatever, to trade, right?) want to pad things up with a cell theft ring using the phones to trade for weed. This brings all kind of extra fed charges here under RICO because now it's a conspiracy to steal and trade. None of that is written or explained that well as I'm a bit stoney, but I think you get what I'm saying. *All the weed I have I've gotten through CL in one way or another. Either meeting the dealers from ads and continuing to use them, or through casual encounters with people who also smoke. I've never had a sketchy experience. This isn't the same everywhere in the US, I know. And I'd never recommend someone doing something that seems sketchy to them or that they feel uncomfortable with. I will say if you live in a medical state, a state where it's decriminalized, or a state where there's only penalties on adults for amounts over an ounce, if you go to CL and type in 420 weed and get a handful of ads that are straightforward with a menu, you're probably okay. Where I'm at, delivery services are a cottage industry.
Just gather up any jewelry, electronics and stuff and meet him, I don't see the problem...and carry a lot of cash on you too just in case ya know...
I live in California, so weed isnt really a no no. more of a yes yes, really. I can walk up to my gas station right now and catch someone smoking a joint. I haven't ever felt sketched out before, most guys i trade/buy from on CL are green card holders and will answer all your questions like they are pros. I've met a few cool people on CL that give me good deals and all that. type up prop 215 or sb 420 and as long as they say they verify your green card i know they're legit. this was one of the only ones i didnt have verify or ask to bring my card. I don't care how much i'm fiendin for a bowl, i'd rather waste $10 in gas for a gram from the club than go meet some sketchy guy who goes from saying the deal is half an oz to half a pound...
If you're in CA that definitely sounds sketchy then. I bet it was feds trying to stir shit up using weed as a way in. Once a conspiracy happens for drugs, it doesn't matter to them what the drug is, RICO is RICO. Just a guess and pretty damn surprising because I wouldn't expect anything like that to happen here either.
Yeah i see what you mean, but none of my stuff is stolen and my green card is valid, so im pretty sure id be safe. but yeah, shit like that is sketchy. i like to talk on the phone for any deals i make worth more than like 45-50 dollars just so i can catch them in their bullshit if they want to throw any my way
Yeah, I know you're legit, but there are plenty of people who aren't and who are stupid enough to go for it. I've been trying to find the article about this, but can't. About 3-4 years ago the feds opened an undercover pawn shop here and were buying "anything of value" to encourage people to steal so they could fence the items and buy drugs. That went on for like a year, and then they finished up, made arrests, went public, and then a lot of the shady shit they pulled came out (they made one guy who had mental issues get a neck tattoo of their store, and also put guns in the hands of known criminals) and the state AG told their agency they are no longer to operate undercover in the state. A lot of what you described kind of reminded me about what I'd read about what happened here.
Damn man, yeah he went from total professional to a sketchy teenage kid on other drugs. like at first he sounded like he was an older toker, but i swear someone else was texting me... Good to know man, i'll have to look into that. And i wouldn't be surprised if they did try something like that here. Down in the bay area a year or two back there were some sherrifs who were trying to bust green card holders for ANYTHING they could get them on. eventually got some clubs shut down by feeding false information to the DEA and having them shut it down since technically its a federal crime to run a MMJ dispensary. I'll have to make sure im more careful on CL now.

Nah, unit means pound. Well, at least around here. i told him i wanted 10-14 grams or whatever, and then he said a half to full unit. when i asked him to clarify he said 8oz. Which either one would be a fair trade, depending on whether his mix was trim or bud heavy, and depending on quality, they could be worth the same amount.
