Might be a good bonding experience if he knows, although it might not.  Definitely don't take anything bud wise, a paper here and there seems more then acceptable, unless its his last one.

Just try really hard to get caught smoking by him.. like outside or something you know? If he wants to smoke with you he'll decide when he catches you. Or is he the type to catch you and just not talk about it? If thats the case, he probably doesn't want to. I feel like it would be kind of weird to smoke with my parents, although I would definitely take up the chance to do it.

 

Maybe try talking to him about it. This is a good chance for you to have some major bonding time with your father, which is always healthy!

As a father, I would say it all comes down to how mature my son is. You seem very mature and respectful, if your dad isn't receptive to the idea then it might have more to do with his prudence than your maturity.
 
Are you close with your dad? Not your fault if you aren't, only ask because it seems like there's some distance between you two. That might be a barrier as well, unfortunate but it's reality for a lot of people.
 
That being said, "medical reasons" are the go-to excuse for parents when they're too embarrassed to tell their kids the truth, like when daddy goes away for a couple of months... not saying that's your situation but it's a common theme among parents who have problems being open with their kids.

I have found my dads stash and smoked with him before it was a cool experience. Sometimes when i'm smoking I will offer him some or he will occasionally ask for a hit but he never takes much more than a puff or two before he moves on. He doesn't mind my smoking as much now that legalization is progressing and I have my medical marijuana rec. and now we are closer than ever

 

 
Since you are not that close to your dad, now you know what to get him for his birthday. Great way to warm up to your dad.
 
Why wait a few years if you are over the age of 18? Your mom already allows your dad to smoke. It would be like having a beer with the parents.

Dude fuckin same haha.  My dad always has some fire ass shit and some edibles when I go over to visit.  He's retired military, works for a private contracting company that doesn't drug test apart from the initial screening upon hire, so he is always blazing down.
 
He doesn't see it as "smoking weed" or "getting high" at this point it's just as much a part of his daily life than his morning coffee. Straight up CHILLEST dude I know.  I know I'm talking about my dad here but he's a badass, straight up.

When I found my dad's stash at 13 years old my reality shattered.
