Respect Your Parents

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by BetterCallPaul_, Mar 28, 2015.

  1. The following is a guide/Rant mainly for younger (of legal age) smokers who perhaps live with parents or are around people who don't necessarily agree with the use of weed. These tips however should be fairly universal in their message.

    Why are you writing this?

Every day without fail a new post will come up on this forum along the lines of "How to smoke without parents finding out" or "My Parents are against weed. HELP!"  It is clear weed is a popular pass-time amongst younger adults, more so with legalisation - but it seems the idea of respect has somewhat vanished amongst some smokers.  In my opinion weed is fantastic, it has so many health benefits that it should be legal universal. I do however know a lot of people who are against the use of weed for their own personal reasons and I 100% respect their opinions.  So here we go. A 101 in respecting others while you're a pot-head. [IMG]

Weed as a hobby is not important, let me get that clear from the start. If you put your stoner antics before family then you have the worst mindset for this little thing called life.  If you live with your parents the very least you can do is respect their household rules. They've looked after you from the moment you were conceived, worrying over you, making sacrifices for you, perhaps even putting their own dreams on hold so you could get the best chance in life they could offer you.  Is it really worth killing that trust and love because you're being a selfish ass and want to smoke in their house?  By all means ask them. I'm not for a moment suggesting that because your parents are against weed that means you can never get high, but do it on their terms.

    Be Honest

You can avoid the hassle of trying to be the James Bond of undercover smoking in your room by being honest. Just tell your parents your reasons for wanting to smoke and SHOW them you aren't just turning into a lazy bastard. If you have a job, college or whatever, assure your parents that they are still your priority and that weed is simply a hobby you would like to enjoy.  Honesty is something we all appreciate, and your parents might certainly appreciate your honesty and maturity in asking them for permission to smoke in their house. If they say no, then DON'T SMOKE in their house.  If they say yes. Congrats kid, you've made it to the big league. Toke away.

Respect their decision. You've just gotta wait until you have your own place before lighting bowls up in your room. In the meantime, just go outside - away from the house. If you respect your parents decision of not letting you smoke in the house they will have to respect your decision to take your smoking outside when you go for a walk or something. [IMG]  Compromise is always the best resolution in these situations!

I know all this is common sense but the amount of posts of people trying to go behind their parents backs really frustrates me.  Weed is great, but come on guys - family is for life [IMG]
