So I have a meeting set up with an owner of one of the best dispensaries in SF and according to Murphy's law something can and will go wrong. And something did. I've dewaxed bho a few times and I've made some delicious and clean shatter. Now that I have this meeting set up everything's going wrong. The bho is not turning to shatter it stays sticky and is more of a budder. My question is can I take the bho that is now budder and dewax it again to try and get it to shatter? Also this is the first time we have mixed two different types of trim (indoor cookie trim with outdoor sour D nugs) could the mixing have been my problem?
I would instead winterize it and do a vacuum oven purge at low temps. Basically take your budder, dissolve it fully in some everclear alcohol, get the mixture nice and cold and than pour it through a vacuumed filtration system (essentially a funnel with a coffee filter hooked up to a collection duct with a constant vacuum pump) than put the collection duct in a warm water bath, collect and purge in a vacuum oven at a low temp. Ok, thank you for the input. But is there a difference between winterization and dewaxing? To be more clear, but a little brief. First I blast the material, then warm water bath, then I vac it for an hour or two, next I dissolve the vaced bho in everclear (75% since I'm a CA resident), freeze for 1-2 days, filter, evap the everclear, scrape up what's left and then vac. Are you saying I can take the budder which is already dewaxed (or winterized) and repeat the process?
Yes, my bad I thought you already had a finished batch. You can just dissolve any finished product (post purge) in everclear and freeze it, filter, evap and than vac Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Let me know how it goes. I'd love to see a pic of the final batch Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
duuuude dont use 151 everclear to winterize.. its got sugars in it so its really only good for food grade stuff. I've used it before and could taste the sugars, its no good.
(Everclear is fine) quick tip tho, temp should be around 90 and don't vacuum it until the temperature is correct Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
When you say sugars do you mean it taste sweet? Because I've only had that happen with one batch other than that I've never noticed anything
90?!?!? Haha Jesus that explains so much, the last 2 slabs turned to crumble on me. What would you recommend for the evap stage? Hot plate/water bath or natural evap?
Didn't take before picks, I forgot haha, but it started out as a really blonde crumble then I dissolved it in ever clear and here we are now. Still tryna get it to solidify more tho. Boom
I froze and filtered also. there was almost nothing left in the coffee filter after it filtered through.
