What I do to Light proof my 4x4x7 ft. cab I built is to do as folows.  I sealed colpletely every possible leak, as well as make sure that the "door" or entrance is also light proof.
For the Ventilation, you rig up some sort of ducting attatchment.  They are made of alluminium and some are like a rectangle on one end and a 6 inch circular hole on the other.  If you need  , Basically something that will let air in and out inside the ducting segment and is able to be sealed on it's outer edges.  Like this:

Then you need some ducting like this,

Then you attatch the ducting to the alluminium piece on outside of the grow space and as long as it's 10 ft long it should do the trick.  Even better is if you snake it around so there is a couple 90-degree corners in the ducting the light won't reach the inside.  Even better is to get some insulated ducting so it's really dark inside the ducting.

This is how I do it and it works great.  My cab is in a room where the lights are on at all different times.  If you'd like me to take some pics of my set-up i'd be more than willing.

    Hope this helps,

  3. thanx for the advice, i might have to build something similar from card board i can't find one of those to fit correctly. also the cab has a 1ft space between the two rooms its where i keep most of the electronics, i have duct taped the seems of the two shelves but the cfl cab is still beaming a tiny stream of light under the two spaces. what can i use for lining that is light proof i thought duct tape would.

I'm not sure how large the beam is but if the gap is less than 1 cm I'd use bathroom caulking.  You know, the white stuff looks like toothpaste.  It's a great way to seal up each corner of your cab.  The stuff is anti=bacterial as well.  Hope you have things under control
