24 hours after Autoflowering germination - have I taken the right steps?

Alright, so this is my very first, virgin attempt at a grow.  Quick run down on specs:

-2 plants (both auto flower feminized sweet seeds Trainwreck)
    -under 400 W MH (@ 75% dim)
    -approx 3-5 gal pots
    -added tiny bit Rooter's Mycorrhizae
-planted seeds in final pots / no transplants
-suran wrap over the pots until seedling sprouts
    -reading a consistent 78-80 degrees F

My question at 24 hours in - did I water my soil enough before dropping seeds in?

At the 12 hour mark (this morning), I felt the soil and it was still moist, what I assume would be perfect conditions for germination.  But, right now, the soil on top at least, seems like it's getting dry.  Last night, the two pots shared 3 gallons of distilled water.  I definitely wanted to under-water as opposed to over-water.  It's just now, I'm worried that I'll surpass the 72 hour mark with no results because of this.  Should I just be patient?  If I came up dry, is it safe to do another run through with water during the 72 hr germination process?

By the way, I'm running 400W at 75%, 24hr for the first 72hr.  Anyone agree/disagree to this? (separate question)

    Thanks for any help mates!

  3. bump. anyone? i'm at 72 hour mark and no sprout yet. :(

  4. Be patient

  5. Cover the pot with food wrap or plastic bag. This will prevent the soil from drying and keep it evenly moist. Take it off as soon as the plant breaks the surface though

  6. I would gently mist with a spray bottle if it got to dry but shouldnt if its wrapped. just be patient it will happen
