I am currently on attempt number 2 of the Medical Grade Canna Oil.

Quick overview of what I'm working with:

-1 oz. of dry bud ("reggie")

-Coconut oil (not measuring, just pouring enough to cover weed)

-Lecithin granules (purchased from Vitamin Shoppe, house brand)

    -pyrex glass casserole dish

    So...I have been de-carbing the bud for 20 min on 220 (F)...

then mixing in the lecithin (I've been eyeballing it, but just sprinkling a layer over the entire thing)

Then baking in the oven at roughly 220-240 (F) my oven bounces back and forth and I have to keep opening and closing the door to control temperature. I did this for 40 min.

then I took the pan out and let it cool on top of the stove.

then I placed in Freezer for about 24 hours.

Then I took it out and let it thaw overnight. The next morning I put it into the oven for 40 min. @ 220 (F). This time, I figured out how to keep the temperature there (by putting my oven on less than 200).

After 40 min I strained the oil, but it was not black. It was still a dark green. So I figured it was not at its full potency. So.... I covered it and put it back in the dish. And stuck it in the oven for 30 additional minutes at 220 (F).

    It still doesn't look black.

The first batch I made turned black with just 2 times baking for 40 minutes, but the when I filled some capsules they didn't have any effect.

    either:

    A) I'm decarbing too long? maybe it only needs 10 min? or none, since it's pretty dry reggie as it is?

[IMG] lack of concise temperature control at certain periods of baking. There were moments where I caught the stove temperature rising to 250 (F)... can that ruin the batch?

    C) Not measuring out oil or lecithin exactly. I was pretty decently generous on the lecithin Could this be it?

all I know is that I am a little frustrated, and that I've now spent ~$100 trying to get this right to no success yet.

    What am I doing wrong?

tl; dr: I am following all the instructions to Canna Oil and still not getting something right. HELP!

  2. You're not cooking at a high enough temperature. Many people recommend 325 for 30 minutes but my oven must get hot like yours because that was too much.. So I do 300 for 33 minutes

I'm making brownies again in 2 weeks (been so long since I last made CannaOil). I'm actually going to use the stove with a double broiler because it seems better for temp control.. Sticking a candy thermometer in it and going to cook at 190 degrees for nearly 2 hours with occasional stirring

  3. but i followed Bad Kitty Smiles' directions for medical grade canna oil... it said 220 (F) ?

  4. I use BKS recipe all the time and it is always green, never black. :)

  5. I think 325 is too hot as recommended above. Id bump up to 250 and cook for 1 hour. Dont add too much lecithin, and measure out your dosages. You may be using too much Coconut oil decreaseing the potency of each serving.

Your material may just not be that great.
