Chipped Bong Joint :( HiSi

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by nick og, Mar 24, 2015.

  1. Just got a new Hi Si 15" Beaker bong like a week ago and found this chip in it while cleaning.

Needless to say I'm very angry. Not quite sure exactly how it got there but suspect it had to do with the keck clip, which now is used to hide the hideous chip.

Anyway, any estimates on how much it would cost to repair this minor chip? Is it even worth doing? Also, who could do it? I know absolutely no one.

    Thanks!

  2. Honestly, If it doesnt effect your ability to put the downsteam in the joint it is not worth fixing, just a minor cosmetic defect. Also I have no idea what might have caused this, I wouldnt think a k clip capable of that much damage

  3. It doesn't effect functionality of the piece whatsoever so I think I will leave it for now. Or if I get a cheap estimate get it fixed, just contacted a local repairer so we shall see!

  4. $50 to replace the whole joint at my local shop... Not bad I guess

  5. Do you use a diffuser or just a regular down tube?

My diffuser has caused 3 chips like this in my RooR [IMG] I have since started using a normal down tube and have since had no more problems. I have not bothered to get mine fixed, it has been fine since.

  6. I use the honeycomb diffuser by HiSi... How could that cause the problem though? Is your RooR real?

  7.
It was the diffuser going in and out which chipped mine for sure, I saw it happen last time it did it and have not used one since.
All my glass is genuine, strange thing is I use a diffuser on the ash catcher and that's fine even though the glass is much thinner than my bong.

Might not be the same thing at all than what has happened with your glass but the damage looks the same.

  8. this shit happened to my black leaf too. i think mine came from carrying it around in my backpack with other stuff. it should work just fine, but be careful with it

My shop would suggest just having it flame polished a little. But if you'd like it repaired/fitting replaced...well, how big is it total? If it doesn't fit in the small kiln... Going in a medium sized kiln....... Estimates start off at $45 + shipping fees (starting at $35 if going in the small kiln). Depends on whats all around it, how big, is it straight or have a bent neck, is it a beaker/blown/flare footedetc etc. price could change depending on certain things. My husband has been blowing for over 15 years. Customs, scientifics, repairs, and lessons/apprenticeships. Here's a link to his repair page www.facebook.com/420glassrepair :) hit him up with more pix if you d like to
