First time journal, first time grow

  1. I'm ready today!

I ordered from The Vault, great services, super discreet shipping. They are amazing and I can't recommend them enough. I'm starting with one auto crit from female seeds. One quick one from royal queen. And two blue mystic from nirvana.

I started them in rapid rooters on March 17th. On the 19th morning the quick one lived up to its name and popped first. As that day went on the other 3 popped. I misted water with rapid start. attachment=1728576:ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167571.292626.jpg] ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167645.762013.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167659.651325.jpg

I let them sit under a small flouresent light for s few days and they grew a bit more ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167729.736263.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167748.545241.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167762.202249.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167776.560961.jpg

So it's time now to transplant

As this is my first real grow I am going to try both soil and DWC.
Easy bubble buckets with two 4in airstones in each. I used ducting foil tape and put a drain valve on each. I will be using the 3 part general hydroponics flora.
    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427167983.914534.jpg

For the soil I went with Roots organic potting soil. I got a 5 gallon smart pot and made a modified Alaska grow bucket, it turned out pretty cool I think

All of this is going on a closet I have setup. Carbon filter, exhaust, 2 fans. It stays a steady 76F with lights on, and 70-71F lights off. Total darkness during lights off.

I bought a Kind K3 L450 and it has produced some big tomatoes on my test run through, I'm ready to see what it will do for my buds lol.

And quick one and the other blue mystic in DWC ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427172706.869924.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427172737.218968.jpg

I went with a quarter dose of GH flora, and a bit of rapid start. The ppm was 92 and ph was 6.1.

I plan to run an 18/6 light cycle, with the dark cycle from 7am-1pm.

Any good advise? Everything seems to coming together, but I'm sure there is something I'm missing lol
    Thanks everyone!

  3. I started the light off at 36 inches from the girls, I figured I would gradually lower it throughout the next few days. How close do you think I should get it?

  4. My temps this morning were pretty good, 74.2F with 38% humidity.

I hope this goes well, the blue mystic in hydro looked a little stressed this morning, I'll put pictures up when I get back home.
I'm going to leave the light on until 7am tomorrow and then start my regular light cycle.

  5. Looks great so far :)

Hey subbed up man, I'll be interested to know how your Kind LED performs.
What's the actually draw from your L450?
I would say you can lower right down to 12" to 15" maybe even lower.
I'm using a cheap chinese LED and have that down to 4" above the pots at early stages.

I've only grown in soil so far, but a hydro grow is on the cards for me sooner or later.

  7. Your actually draw wattage wise is 270w on your L450.
I'd bring you light right down 10" above pots.

    Yes, gingerb is correct @270w

I started the light off higher in hopes of less stress on them after the move.
At lunch today when the light cycle started, I lowered the light to 24" and I'll see how they do. If good I'll go lower.
The 2 in soil have nearly doubled in 48hours. They look good and healthy so far. The leaves have a slight lift towards the light and have a nice color. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1427341079.269368.jpg

My DWC hasn't taken off as fast but I assume it is bc the roots need to grow more in this. They don't look bad at all, just not as much growth. I misted the hydroton 3 times today and I think that helped.

My ppm stayed in the mid 90s on both. The Ph rose to 6.4 which is higher than I wanted and will address that tomorrow.

My temps run 72-76F lights on, and 68-72F lights off. 35-40% humidity still.

It is the eighth day since they were seeds.

  9. Yep try lowering light each day, you will know if the lights are too high in first 4 or 5 days.
As you will get stretch and they will be all just lanky stalks if you get me.

I'm a few days behind on with a blue cheese auto & blueberry auto, they both popped soil on tuesday.
Plus have just about a month old pineapple express auto going also.
Am just waiting on a new LED light to be delivered.
    Your in the UK right?

  10. If they are autos, change your light schedule to 20/4. They are not photosensitive so the more light the better.

They are looking solid so far

  11. Thanks John, sounds good. I changed my timer to give 20/4.

I also lowered the light to 20"

I initially said they popped last Thursday. But I was wrong, it was Friday.

    So today is day 6.

I feel like everything is going good so far. They all look healthy and happy.
I play them a mix of music (a lot of Bruce Springsteen, hall and oats, billy Joel and Paul Simon... Lol). My temps are good.
I've lowered the light to 12", there hasn't been much of a stretch at all.

  14. Looking good man

  15. That fast one is really powering on for only 11 days, I am gonna keep an eye on this one you have things looking pretty dialed in so far.

    Day 14

With help from Loki and everyone in the auto help thread, we figured out I probably had a calcium deficiency and a humidity problem.

    Quick one

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1428165946.962956.jpg

These spots only seems to be getting to the bottom leaves and only on this plant. I'm happy with the growth though

This isn't a great pic, the leaves look a lot better irl. But I somehow only took one today

I'm trying to raise the humidity but I'm not having a ton of luck. It's up to 45%..

I changed the reservoir yesterday and upped my ppm to 450 and my ph was at 6.

    Check out my journal

  17.
They are looking alright, I've got a blueberry auto and blue chesse auto that are just 12 days old and are fair bit smaller.
I'll post updates on my journal tomorrow. My humidity sticks around the 50% mark and don;t seem to get any probs.
