    Hey everyone ^.^ happy monday

Im currently looking into some options for short range electric transportation. ones that i dont need a license or insurance to operate. Ive come across some stuff about electric longboards, and as a snowboarder/skiier.. i couldnt be more intrigued by the idea. Ive researched as many brands as possible. and im just looking for some advice. My options are:

A evolve bamboo longboard 1350$ (if i remember right) my concerns are not having enough grunt to get up steeper hills. And i dont want to invest that kind of money and be board (ha!) with it by the end of the first season. But it has options for a 2-1 kit that offers all terrain wheels, at a pentalty to range. range is important for me. They also have a really nice carbon-kevlar deck that looks tits, but slightly more at around 1700.

Back the marbel project with 500 dollars and wait till june to even get it. anoter 800 will be needed before shipping. so 1300 total.

Backing the monolith project, means a full investment of 1300 or 1400 cant remember. But it could be the new top dog on the market.

Or, Using alien drive-power systems, like those used in rc vehicles, could build my own longboard. They have a hyper EV kit which boasts top speeds of around 50mph and ranges of 10-15 miles in race, or more when ridden conservatively.  when ridden conservatively. A guesstimate i made would be right around 1600 for everything i need. Including an eastside longboards rocky bomber, and caliber 2 trucks.

For anyone who knows about RC motors and power systems, how hard would it be to build or retro fit an exsisting smartphone app to monitor, and control some aspects of the board? Also, will any 2.4 ghz controller work? Theres is out of stock, but its buttugly, and im technologically handy, figured if any 2.4 would work. i could make something slightly more my style and egronomical. I would like the ability to cut power to front motor during flat cruising to conserve power. And i said, im handy. not a pro. some sorry if any of these questions seem stupid :p

Above all, my biggest concerns are enough speed, torque to go up hills in transit. main roads mostly. Lightness, being able to carry it on my dakine while i go into the store would be super nice. And above all else, I want customization.

Electric longborads aren't new. As an rc enthusiast, let me say, you are going to fight an uphill battle developing your own ev board. Even the batteries available, lead acid or LiFe, are not common in rc.  LiFe is starting to make a splash in rc, but not common yet. The 2.4 ghz that many companies use, like spektrum, futaba, hitec, likely won't communicate well with your device. Actually the only smartphone crap in rc is a parrot quadcopter, and Kyosho blizzard. Neither of which would be considered performance products.  More specialty, and not fast buy any means. I wouldn't want to rely on being able to use my cell while going '50mph' on any surface other than glass-like asphalt.

My opinion is, buy an ebike. Probably cheaper, and more effective. Or get whatever board you want, but making your own will cost way more than 1500$, especially with time invested.

  3. my problem with ebike is having to lock it somewhere. thats my only concern. those things get stolen so fast.

  4. 2 stroke conversion for a bicycle?

  5. trying to get away from gas costs. but i considered it. I wish that stealth bomber wasnt so god damn exspensive. 14 grand for a bike? ha. ill pass lol

  6. oh and just to be clear, im not totaly developing my own ev board here. the alien power systems is kind of like "this is everything you need" including batteries and what not. Im just trying to figure out a replacement for the remote and if i can retro fit rubber mountainboard wheels. the fiik is not me. i cant carry that thing
