Bloodborne

Discussion in 'Gamer's Heartbeat' started by The Stud, Mar 23, 2015.

  1. So, originally I am a xbox gamer. I bought xbox for gears of war and have stuck with it since.
I have later discovered some amazing games, dark souls being the absolute no challenged favorite.
So now bloodborne is coming, and I am therefore contemplating on getting a ps4 instead of the new xbox.

How is the game? Is it as amazing as I think?
Do I need to just sell my soul and run buy a ps4 right now?

I would especially really like answers from people who have played dark souls 1 or 2.

  2. The reviews were posted not too long ago this evening and they're all pretty good so far :smoke: I'm preordering this right now actually if I still can.

  3. So far its a 93 on Metacritic. I'll be playing tomorrow evening and will give my first impressions.

I missed the preorder shit  just downloading it now.

Edit: well I think I'm going to be addicted to this for a while. Plays a lot like Dark Souls with the exception of the firearms . Your character seems more agile in this though. As always, expect to die. A lot! Im not even past the first area yet.

  6. I've only put about an hour into this so far but it is fucking incredible [IMG]

  7. I didn't even sleep last night. Too busy stuck in Central Yharnam and didn't even get to the third checkpoint

Yup , it's the best rated game on this gen. It's also the most frustrating .

  8.
Nicee, how's the feel, much like dark souls?

aaah, central yharnam, is that a place in the game?
How is it set up? Is it very open world like ds? Are there bosses in every area? How can you fix your character?

Lol, many questions. My bad :p

  9. They weren't kidding when they said this was hard... I'm must have died close to 100 times now in the past 3 hours and have barely progressed into the game

  10. Are u still trying to kill the big fat thing?

It's the second area of the game right after the extremely short first level. It is setup very similar to Dark Souls except the combat has improved. The gun is actually pretty useful for now (i only have the saw cleaver and the pistol as my weapons) as it staggers enemies so you can take them out quickly. Fighting enemies 1v1 is crucial when you're first starting out unless you get the hang of the weapon transformation to form combos while utilizing the gun to keep distance in crowds. Imagine if Dark Souls had guns and instead of a medieval feel, everything is sort of Gothic. Another cool new feature is that you can regain health if you keep using melee on an attacker. So say you get hit , well sometimes your health doesnt drop , instead, the health bar shows your health drop but you have a chance to fill it back up if you do so in time by striking foes . This doesn't always work out though especially when in a crowd or when you are being attacked by gunners. I assume there are bosses in every area but cant say for sure cuz i havent got there. And yes you can level your weapons and character but again, have yet to get there.

Which one? The one with the brick or the one with the axe? Im still on the first section because I didnt know my weapon was broken and in need of repair for 2 hours straight [IMG]

This game is so sick though. Really reminds me of the first Dark Souls as far as difficulty. There are enemies everywhere and they actually will come and chase you from distance unlike DS where you could manage to escape enemies more easily. If you can learn where to distance yourself, you can pick off enemies one at a time. I started getting a hang of the transformation combos before i had to leave for work and the saw cleaver can give great crowd control once you learn its combos. It felt good running into four of the townspeople and taking everyone out in one combo.

Goddamn it I'm waiting on the patch to download. After that, I am finding that massive hammer and smashing things.

Well, so far its been fantastic. The controls are tight and responsive, the game looks great, weapons have incredibly varied and unique movesets, which makes up for the fact that there are less weapons in BB compared to the other Souls games, each weapon is basically 2-in-1. Combat is faster, and enemies (especially bosses) are more aggressive, however you seem to have more i-frames when dodging/rolling, so the aggressiveness isnt too unfair. Only downside is slightly long loading times and an occasional framerate slip, both of which are being addressed in patches.

  13. Beat the first boss . Boss fights are still epic as hell and rewarding too , not only from the blood souls or items you get , but just beating a boss is a satisfying accomplishment like in the DS games.

This game keeps getting better and better every time I play it. Im barely past anything but I think it's safe to say it's actually better than any of the previous games. The combat is fluent, the world is amazingly detailed and it's still a challenge.

Yea the first boss is the Cleric Beast. The second is Father Gascoigne , the dude in the Graveyard. He's such a fucking bastard, he has a lunge attack that knocks you down and then sometimes he'll do it quickly , twice in a row and the you're dead

What weapons you rollin with man? I'm currently using the Blunderbuss and the Saw Cleaver. I also have a cane sword but don't use it since my Cleaver has about 12 blood stone shards in it already. Waiting to up my stats to carry around that big hammer thing. Btw I just figured out how to counter last night. it makes guns a ton more useful

  16. I wonder if the Kirkhammer was named after Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammet .

  17. im usin the same setup

about to try to kill Father again. got that music box now

so the music box stops him for a few seconds

but the third time he transforms into a huge beast

did better without the damn thing[IMG]

died twice, so i'm done for now

  19. I found the music box . I'm gonna try after work but my strategy will be using counters/distanced combos until he morphs. Once he does is when I'll use the music box since he can spam that stupid lunge attack so often.

  20. Everything I hear about this game is great. I am going out and buying a PS4 this weekend just for this game. My Xbone will have to collect dust until the new Witcher game comes out.
