Hey guys I could use some assistance. A few days ago I was using Beats headphones with my laptop. Nothing unusual, right? Well I took the headphones out of the jack (kinda quickly) and now suddenly my laptop plays NO sounds AT ALL. Period. I tried restarting a few times, adjusting the properties of the speakers and playback and restoring them to their "default" states but nothing has worked so far. This is seriously pissing me off, please help? P.S. I'm using an HP Pavillion laptop with standard speakers and Windows 8.
do you have "show disabled devices" enabled in playback devices ? also try disabling the device and enable again to see if that fixes it.
No dice. The mixer shows that sounds are being detected and played, but I simply can't hear them from my speakers.
Try removing audio devices from the device manager, then reinstall your sound card drivers. If that doesn't work its like a hardware problem, but in laptops damaging one plug wouldn't harm the other. Just unplugging it quickly shouldn't have done damage to the on board audio either, but wierd stuff happens.
A litmus test for hardware/software problem sorting is this: Go into the audio devices, and check the realtime dB meter. If it goes up and down when you play something (and the headphones are marked as default), then it is most likely a hardware problem and you may need to get a USB soundcard like this; http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UAUD-Adapter-C-Media-Chipset/dp/B001MSS6CS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427770021&sr=8-1&keywords=B001MSS6CS 3.5mm connectors aren't known to be too hardy.
