Got caught hotboxing

  1. So 2 nights ago my dealer, who I have known for long before he started dealing, asked me if i wanted to smoke. I told him yes but let him know that I didn't have any. He didn't care and just wanted to smoke with someone I guess. So i pick him up and we head to our hotbox spot, which I have been to dozens of times without issue. We pull in and smoke about two bowls. Then when I go to drive away it turns out I parked the front wheels in a ditch, which I couldn't see because it had snowed here recently. In all the noise of trying to get out of the ditch, apparently someone called the police on us.
So the police pull up, ask me what we're doing here, and also mentioned the cloud that rolled out the window and the fact that he could smell it before he got out of his car. My friend had left his grinder on the seat, so the cop tells him to hand it over. He then asks me to get out, and about five steps from the car he told me I wasn't gonna get arrested, because none of the stuff was mine. I can't believe my luck at this point, considering this is probably the first time in years I've smoked without a single piece of paraphernalia or weed on me. They searched my car, and didn't even find the bubbler we were smoking out of. However, I then had to watch my friend get taken in cuffs, and he might get hit with dealing because the dumbass had his scale with him. I'm feeling pretty damn lucky, but hopefully this doesn't ruin his life

  2. And that children is why you never carry a scale around.

  3. Godamn that sucks. Let this be a lesson i guess, and tell your friend to get a lawyer. He'll probably be fine at the end of the day, it'll just suck for a good bit though.

  4. Time to find a new dealer.

  5. I hear stories of people getting caught all of the time because they hotbox, yeah it's cool but doesn't seem worth it when there's risk involved. If you had all of your stuff put away and didn't hotbox then you probably would've been fine. But you did get pretty lucky, any word on what's happening to your friend?

  6. Sady this is why I like to sit in my driveway and hot box my car.

  7. does the excuse that I like to weigh out my dosages when I smoke work when you have a scale?

  8. No.

  9. scale = dealing if the cop/ judge  feels like being a dick
scale + baggys = super fucked your getting a dealer charge no questions asks

  10. I had a dealer who would meet me in public places, he would bring a scale to weigh it in front of me(he's a good guy like that).  After the second time he did that I told him to stop bringing it, not worth the risk.  Never got caught but sitting in a parking lot at night with the lights on in the car trying to weigh bud....I don't want anything to do with it, regardless of who gets fucked over worse.

  11. I've been in a car where the Feds found a friends scale but he didn't get any charges because there was no weed in the car. Or was there 😉

  12. Police officers arnt feds lmao, but yeah good thing you go off free

In all my life of getting in trouble with the law never a possession charge. Had many bowls confiscated but never charged. Consider yourself lucky

  15. In court he should plead NG to the distribution. Don't take a deal for it either. Talk to your public defender and maintain that the scale is for personal use so you know you're not being ripped off. Unless he had mulitple baggies on him or distribution paraphernalia it will stand.

  16. From what he has told me they decided not to press dealing charges because he had a clean record up until now, but his court date won't be for a little while so I won't know until after that

  17. That's exactly what I told the cops there when they asked me why he had a scale, that he just didn't want to get ripped off. I have a small scale for that reason, although it never leaves my home. I didn't want to lie to them, but at the same time I didn't want to condemn my friend

  18. Good, because a scale shouldn't prove dealing because I can be for personal use. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens.
