Welcome to our new thread dedicated to people who use BAS products. Ask questions, give advice come and join.

  2. Great idea!

I've never had a chance to use their products, I'm on the other side of the country. The owner was on the Adam Dunn Show dropping knowledge last week, seems like a very knowledgable(?) guy... Can't wait to see this! Subbed!

I use all of the admendments I buy from BAS. Last grow I used their living soil. My plants loved it. I use the tea recipes that are on the site. I will be ordering more Arcadian kelp and some other good stuff not yet needed until the snow melts. I'm going to give their planter a try. The biggest size and am going to grow vegetables in it. It's reasonably prices and it holds just over 3 cubic feet of dirt if I remember right. I need to buy some good soil base and some ewc and compost. I already made up packets of the amendments. Each one is enough for one cubic foot or 7.5 gallons of soil. I need to make one more but I need more kelp first.

I have two shelves of BAS stuff. I have their oly fish compost which is awsome. I have their top dress which is great stuff. I have a bag of their worm powder just in case I want to make a tea. There is their sprouting corn and barley, alfalfa meal, oyster flour, crustacean meal, gypsum powder, neem and Karaja cake, mile high Colorado glacial rock dust Gaia green glacial dust, Brix blend basalt, coconut powder, aloe, agsil, fulpower and TM-7. It was expensive but we'll worth the money. I have been able to make my own soil with the amendments and many teas. This is some prime stuff and worth the money.

  10. I try to source as much as I can locally, but there is a lot I can't get and BAS is my go to online for the stuff I can't get here in my area, I have a big box of oyster shell powder, and a small neem cake on the way  for my no till amendments.

  11. Haven't tried tons of their stuff but what I have I'm very happy!! Coconut powder, alovara, fish meal, few other items. If anyone hasn't checked them out I say do so. And thanx to the Grasscity community for turning me on to them!

  13. Hi everyone,

I'm a bottled nute vet who is switching over. Honestly, this has put the joy back into the process for me. I have read a couple hundred pages of ITG's great thread and spent a lot of time cross referencing stuff.

I have a lot of questions or soon to be questions, but am feeling very good about it all.

If anyone needs bottled advice, I'm here for that; I would like to be able to add back to the community. But recent experience has shown me that soil + sun = a much better end result.

The biggest issue I see way down the road, if everything else strikes right, is the dreaded botrytis. Are there organic means of fending this off? I have heard early applications of Serenade are helpful but would like to hear from someone who has had success with this.

Also, any thoughts on EB Stone's dry fert instead of Epsoma's?

  16. Sorry man I'm on vaca and don't have a scale. It's listed on their site though

Hello Morning Bird. Hey - congrats on making that first step off of Da Bottles!

Re: Botrytis - While I don't have any personal experience with the Serenade product, its Bacillus subtilis which tells me that its most likely organic. Maybe somebody will chime in.

A neem cake soak/tea is also a very good fungicide for those nasty molds but the problem is that you really don't want to use it anywhere near harvest time - which is usually right when you need to fend off the mold. With us here in Maine I find that some outdoor seasons aren't bad but others can be horrible for mold. It all really depends on the weather.

I took a look and the EB Stone "All Purpose" dry fertilizer looks quite similar to the Epsoma products. Ya know, if you're only making a little bit of soil the blended fertilizers work but if you can its always nicer to control what you're adding. I have a sack of Epsoma at home and while I do use it occasionally (just to use it up) I'd rather have separate amendments.

    Welcome to the forum!
