Unknown Resin

  1. Hello, everybody I am currently having an issue with my bong. I have a sovereignty 4 arm pillar that I try to keep as clean as possible everyday. I clean my bong with 90% isopropyl alcohol and Morton iodized salt on a daily basis which gets rid of everything for the most part. Over the course of hundreds of smoke seshs I noticed that a small film of resin was beginning to form along the inner sides of the pillars (see pics below) and each day I used alcohol and salt to clean my bong the stains never came off. I have soaked the bong with acetone by itself, white vinegar by itself, and alcohol by itself. None of these will get rid of the stains. Is there something wrong I am doing? Is the iodized salt causing mineral stains? Should I use Espom salt? Grudge off? I would really appreciate the help, thanks!

  2. I've had this issue as well, and would be interested to hear if anyone has a solution.  Or, knows how to prevent it in the first place, since clearly just keeping your piece clean is not enough....

  3. Might be some sort of hard water stain from the water you are using ? That's my only guess, but I suppose it would have started from the beginning unless youve changed the water you use lol

  4. use a carbon filter to avoid this. also a Simple green soak will clear this up

  5. I second the simply green soak, that stuff has been cleaning my glass for a while now

  6. Hmm..could be the salt. Just recently learned regular table salt leaves a cloudy residue. Some members suggest sea salt or epsom salt.

Forgot to mention I already tried simple green. Soaked it a couple times for roughly 24 hours multiple times and each time had no effect.

I did however use muriatic acid (31.45% HCl) the pool cleaner stuff, it got rid of most of the resin after a 2 day soak. It'll probaly get rid of the rest if I soak it again. Definitely had to go to the extreme here

I would never use a carbon filter on a pillar.
