Starting my outdoor already Seeking Advice

  1. So I was feeling anxious this year , and built my self a 10x8 hoops house. Cut a bunch of clones from what seems to be a indica sativa mix, n popped a couple of left over seeds in my veg box for a couple weeks.

My plan was to veg these for a month or so and adjust them to the sun, then put them in the green house. Problem was I planned poorly and underestimated the room it would take to get that many inside my lil veg box.

    So
In a "go with your gut" feeling I tranplanted all of them out to the green house. I have some in ground and some in buckets / soil - coco. I'm running a space heater at night and have my supplemental lighting set at 5-9 "16-8". Lows at night are in the 30s but can maintain 60+ with the heater. I also put a shade cloth up (grow has natural shading for part of the day as well).
-IK my night time lows are cold for my babies but will it kill them ?
-Is 16-8 enough for indoor clones that where on 24-0 for 2 weeks?
-And will my shade cloth - natural shade keep them from burning up in the new sunlight?

My second outdoor grow so bare with all the rookie questions. I've just invested too much this year and can't stop tweaking on it. Really want some happy girls!

To extreme a change in lighting can trigger flowering I'd add no more then an hour of darkness per week coming off a diet of 24-0.. I'm assuming your intending this set for setting out come June 1st and are trying to time match for that date..

Avoid frost as it will damage and stall your plants.. They like a warm sunny summer day so anything less will slow them..

I've set plants out in direct sunlight after just a day in shade to acclimatize from artificial light.. Cannabis can take all the light it can get in most locations.. South facing walls with all the hours of sun you can get on them.. They do ok in lesser spots in the yard but my best plants are always the ones with the most hours of sun..

Plan your IPM now and start treating all outside plants at the 1st sign of thaw-spring.. ( Integrated Pest Management )
Green Cure weekly for Powdery Mildew.. I get this from the hydro shop
BT- bacillus thuringiensis For caterpillar control also weekly..  Thuricide from Lowes or Depot or Hydro
Neem oil in veg to control most crawling insects.. Same Lowe HD or hydro..
Put up a bug zapper as the moths are your worst enemy laying eggs that will become your Bud worms and they will destroy all your hard work..

I chopped the cover off my zapper so I can brush off the grid each morning and that helps me keep track of just how bad the moths are per day.. The BT is a very short lived bacterium and only lasts a day or 2 at best and not even that long in direct sunlight..

Since it's that time of year I've been fine tuning this bit of text I paste where and when needed.. Got tired of typing it out time after time..
Let me know if it needs corrected or added to.. any constructive criticism is welcome..

If your growing outside your going to need an IPM ( integrated pest management ) routine.. This one is mine..
BT bacillus thuringiensis.. Caterpillar control..  sold under several names
    Safer = http://www.hydroponics.net/i/132569
    Bonide = http://www.territori...CFQaBfgodk0UAug

Green Cure.. For Powdery Mildew control.. https://www.1000bulb...earchButton.y=0

Neem oil.. For spider mites, thrip, helps with the caterpillars too but don't use once you start to flower..

Spinosad as my change up hitter.. So things don't get resistant.. https://www.1000bulb...SUN-704606.html?
    Captian Jacks = http://www.hydrogala...CFQphfgodNUsADw

BT-I as mosquito dunks and bits for Fungal Gnats... http://www.pondbiz.c...ges/Sum1156.jpg

To avoid the sprayer contamination issue I had last year I simply bought 4 sprayers
    http://www.lowes.com...ayers=

Most all of this can be found at Home Depot or Lowes except the Green Cure.. Hydro shop for that..
Buy a new sprayer and rinse really well between solutions or buy multiple sprayers like I did..
I do my treatments like any good farmer.. up well before dawn
    Spray BT on Monday..
    Green Cure on Tuesday
Neem on Wednesday.. Only in veg
    Spinosad Thursday

  3. Lots of great info here, some a bit over my head.
I've already noticed and knocked down a moth cocoon today (day 5) and have noticed many Mosquitos ( mainly from my suplimental lighting.
I know it's a drastic light change 24-0 to 16-8 but I had no other choice. I have done 24-0 to 18-6 indoors so I'm hoping the extra 2 hours won't kill me with this strain. Catapillers suck! I noticed as I was hang drying and trimming my outdoor last year that there was a hand full of those fuckers in a lb I pulled. I had used neem oil last year and it worked great up until flower, and have got more for this season. I do need better pest control and I thank you for your suggestions. I want to buy a bug zapper but don't want the light harming my plants ... Is it ok to just turn off at night if purchased?

My clones that I placed in ground seem to be shocked but aren't dead just yet . Clones that I have placed in buckets are looking better w a lil bit of new growth already. Makes sense .. The ground temp is around 10 degrees cooler then my GH temp so.

Also noticed a lil hole in the bed of my soil today .. Maybe a snake ( to cold for that still imo ) maybe a mouse ?
The fun has begun I just hope I don't loose to much sleep stressing over it all ! the uncertainty is eatting me up.

The mosquito dunks are to control Fungal Gnats.. if you don't have them now you will have them sooner or later..

I have a fairly low power Bug Zapper that is just a few feet from my plants and it's on all the time.. The small amount of light is below the threshold of the plants..

Caterpillars are by far the worst threat outside.. Moths are laying eggs each night in your flowering plants.. By the time your ready to harvest the Caterpillars have already started to cut the stems off your best buds and have shit all through your crop causing mold every place they crapped.. After you put it up to dry they will start to hang from the drying buds by the hundreds.. Knock them off and an hour later dozens more are hanging down again.. I tossed nearly all of my first harvest away..

Powdery Mildew is my 2nd big threat and I spray Green Cure weekly to combat it..

Further down the list are the rest of the leaf munching, sap sucking threats like Spider Mites, Thrip, Aphids and a whole lot more.. Your own location may present a different threat level of any of the pests..
                          Hope that helps.. BNW
