Busy week...trying to stay up to keep up with things. Got a pot of coffee done at midnight.

I'm going to do some talking, and a lot of rambling before I get into what we can really call the start of the journey I guess. Scroll down until you see...

Clockwork -- Two 12 hour shifts

to bypass the boring stuff. It'll sneak up on ya anyway though.

Anyway, I think life is going to get a little busy again (and I'll be rejoining society), so I'm going to just keep up with what I currently have going on and continue from there. Or try. I ramble. I do random shit. Just laugh along. Or at me. Whatever floats your boat.

I have been growing since joining this forum (shortly prior). I do things many ways, however primarily what works for me.I have a couple grows dating back to September last year and some methods done that I will eventually get back too, but other than that it will be current and on as previously stated. I came up short on resources here and there because I hit the biggest brick wall of my life a little more than a year ago and it finally took it's toll on me for a few months. Many items used will change, if not be removed. Very soon. Compost, compost, just get some damn compost already. Stick around as I have done a few things in regards to composting indoors I think some of you may like and will definetly help out those with limited space. I have become very efficient in my ways of what I know only to describe as In-room growing. This will have to be presented later as well unfortunately.

But, this is pretty close to how I first started out growing a couple or so years ago. So, far as soil and amendments go, any new growers who might happen to come along...I do my best to do EVERYTHING on the cheap, if not free. Time and labor not included.

I emphasize secrecy. While at the same time being able to maintain resources in the wide open.
Example: Need a place to compost outdoors inconspicuously, knowing it's mostly for indoors cannabis? Pile your materials into what looks like will be, or may already be a garden bed along house, porch, or where! If you go as far as to grow something there too, try to utilize it by way of planting beneficial plants to your grow while at the same time, not being too out of the ordinary. Many people grow Green Beans (you can when starting or shortly after starting a new pile, and even better when mixing in some red clay) for your Nitrogen Fixer. By the time you get some green beans, you can do some turning in the pile (bed) and plant something to go along with the process. Culinary and medicinal herbs (whether for their chemicals and compounds or for Intergrated Pest Management) can be grown all year long. The types and cultivars may vary by season, but a little of these can go a long way. There I went rambling. I warned you. d:)~ Rambled myself tired. So...enough for now.

No pancakes for breakfast, but I did cook some bangin' scrambled eggs in a pot. Turned out more my style and to my liking. All eggs cooked atop a stove will forever be cooked in a pot from here on out. No more pans. Sorry no picture...too busy enjoying it [IMG]

Pot of coffee as usual. Replaced my usual ridiculous amount of sugar with nutmeg, and a Tea Marsala spice mix that I use with Hindu Indian tea. Great, soothing and energizing beverage that I use to drink a cup of every morning. Use to work for a deep rooted family of Hindu Indians. Great people.

After breakfast and coffee, an old friend came to say hello this morning!

These two workers didn't have a very good supervisor for a few months. Bare this in mind with all the older, near ready to retire employee's for that matter. I know I know...

2 plants. No-till, no drainage grow. Recycled soil, amended, semi cycled d:). Scraps get cut up and thrown into this bin if not used elsewhere. Soon, a couple inches of screened compost (not getting into the ingredients here tonight) will be tossed in and leaf duff (or leaf mould) will be used for mulch. Holes will be drilled around and on the bottom and bin set into a much shallower bin. Might get one with wheels. Not important to me.

Amendments have included: Jobe's Organic All Purpose granular fertilizer, Jobe's Organic Vegetable granular fertilizer, Dolomite Lime, Epsom Salt, Kelp Meal, Diatomaceous Earth, Chickity Doo Doo, Perlite, Glacial Rock Dust.

Recycled soil was initially amended with both Jobe's, Dolomite lime, Kelp Meal, DE, Chickity Doooooo Dooooo, maybe some more perlite, and glacial rock dust. Handful of this. Some of that. Stir, water, stir, water, stir, leave that shit alone.

After maybe two weeks...(you SHOOOUUULD wait at least 4)
    But weeks ago...

Watered in with a kelp meal and molasses bubble. These two plants were transplanted into this bin, both from 6" pots. Failed to take any identifying pictures of this point.

Just a few days ago, made an ACT including: a handful or so of compost, might have done two cause it appeared right, a handful or so of kelp meal, around 3 tablespoons of molasses and two fat earthworms because I was curious in a gallon bucket. Bubbled for about 24 hours +/- an hour or two. Feel like I forgot to mention an ingredient...

Also sprinkled around some Epsom Salt in the bin to make up for a lack of magnesium. First time I've even had to use epsom salt in years, except for a foliar on experimental grows. This is priority for me and will not/is not in my other soils. Dolomite Lime comes next, however it is used in the majority of my soil as was needed. The soil told me after last round.

    More of this one.

Each one not in the basket got chopped. Really let myself down on these. I'm embarrassed posting them to be honest. Something happened with these sativa's...with what's been done, I've concluded that since they are clones of clones, possibly off another clone...fuck'm. The one's flowering are the last of them, and I have another unknown strain that was leaning towards an indica dominant on deck. Mother, rooted clones, fresh clones, and two LSTed plants that were/are clones. These sativa's ABSOLUTELY hurt my motivation to want to grow for a bit. No more for awhile.

I just realized (being my first time) having so many pictures to upload isn't an option at the current filesizes tonight. For me. Has nothing to do with the forum limitations. I'm too tired to work on this at the moment.

  3. I had planned on getting outside and screening some more compost and redoing the whole room (again). Well, as usual with big days, rain rain rain...but got a great view out of the kitchen window while figuring up breakfast and sipping some coffee...

This was some more from today I wanted to get posted for the Infamous Solo Cup Challenge 5. Said I would the other day.

Took dolo solo's, cause I said I would. Little late and since the deadline has technically passed, I'll just play the sidelines. No biggy and all good. I'll only post a few photo's throughout.

Using the clones in the clear water bottle (middle of first photo) from an indica dominant bagseed mother I have. Cuts were taken Friday last week I think. Don't really remember, nor care. They are in plain tap water. See the roots beginning (second photo)? Planting them sooner than I like to when using this method. Generally would've waited until probably Sunday.

First up...I smoke when I feel the need too. Not to be high, and I certainly don't like to stay high. But the mood was right. My homegrown in bowl. Buddies crap on the tray. Get that shit outta here!

Next, when cloning with the following method, and being I am far from my usual style of growing all together, it's necessary for me to first prep my liquid fertilizer. This was made at approximately 2:00 pm, and I didn't transplant these two clones until around 10:00 pm

A few pinches of Jobe's Organic All-Purpose granular fertilizer to the following size bottle as above should do it. Replace lid, shake vigorously a few times. Let settle 15 secs. Shake. Settle. Shake. Put that shit on the HID ballast and forget it until prep is done.

Seedling/Clone mix in the red tub. Done a few days ago. Little on the dry side now. Keeping up microbial counts in this mix this go around is not of top priority for me here.

As you can see, I have already prepped the solo's, and around are containers for more clones irrelevant too this topic. They are discussed within my journal for anyone interested.

I have decided to experiment a little being a sideline grow. Dechlorinated tap water, a few pinches of kelp meal, and however much of an aloe vera leaf you see. I put my leaves in. Most people I see don't. It works for me when on my game and so I do it this way all the time. Also threw in an airhose from a small aquarium air pump. Thought I'd try a quick hard brew. Meant to do it this morning and forgot and so it didn't get started until 9:30 pm or so. Should be fine. It was cool watching it in that small bottle. Bubbled maybe 15 minutes.

Left those two to sit for 30 minutes. Then planted into solo's just enough to stay in place. Threw in a little more soil from the red tub.

Took the liquid fertilizer made earlier today (was put to rest on the HID ballast) and shook it a little. Then lightly poured just enough to try and cover each leaf fully on ALL clones.
Reason: This granular fertilizer states it has 2% water soluble nitrogen. This is more quickly available to the plants. At this point, and according to how I am growing at this time, these babies are about to want, or are ready to start taking, nitrogen. Some other water soluble nutrients, but I don't care right now.
The aloe and kelp liquid made was used to water the soil enough for runouff. Came back after 15 minutes and finished watering until the containers felt right. This mix is airy, and dries fast so this isn't too much watering. I shouldn't need to water again for at least two days. Maybe a mist over top.

Think that's it. If I missed anything in tonight's posts, I'll correct it in the morning.

Thanks again for putting up with my randomness.

  5. Chopped a couple bigger plants down. Trying to lessen the risk factor; risk probability/ratio. It's been out of my comfort zone for too long now. About to move again...soooo.

Clones taking last night were good this morning. Still good now.

    IMG_20150320_102243.jpg

Here's the rooted clones from my last post. I filled the pot up with more soil, and topped with a little perlite to help with moisture. I somehow always end up losing 1 out of every 2 clones rooted in these containers. Mostly due to soil compaction or lack of oxygen getting to one. So, hence why I take two at a time now [IMG] I haven't lost one this time either though.

    IMG_20150320_102125.jpg IMG_20150320_102159.jpg

  6. I realized I failed to mention that the bigger bins and the area they are in gets closed off for the most part. It's only as open as it is shown in the pictures for the pictures. I have a couple shades that go up around it. I have had the lumber to build myself a new cabinet for a few weeks, but the weather won't stay good long so that it will dry out from where dumbass degenerates can't put a piece of plastic over it correctly thereby water logging it all. Brick walls man...

The cabinet visible that has been my cloning area (see previous post) is getting converted to a flower cab. Plan to try my first true ScrOG with either 2-4 plants and chicken wire. Will be trying a ScrOG in old school sense. Size of plants and containers are still being decided upon. Lighting will be CFL's, packed full as a mutha. Soil will be straight compost. Indica dominant clones from uknown dank bagseed.

I'm going to day by day right now...and there's today other than the BS of chopping down some half flowered plants. The rest will be relocated over the weekend. I will be losing the ability to simply stand up and check on them. Thankfully we have nature and soils built upon her nuture to help us through long absences. :)

    Until next time

    A method within my garden...

Root ball Planters - and guerilla seed bombs [IMG]

-Reusing root balls from previous grows.

    Introduction

I'm one who reuses my soil. Whether it gets tossed in a bin, or tossed on a compost pile outside, any scrap from growing cannabis gets chopped down so that it will disappear sooner rather than later. One factor I am constantly fighting is disposing of stalks. I simply cut it down close enough to the soil where only enough is left to grasp by a hand. Then I let it and the whole container dry out quite a bit so it becomes as easy as twisting the stalk and making slight pull to remove the stalk and root ball. These root balls typical get ripped up and tossed on the compost pile (or bin which you later see methods of). Well, what a fucking waste of fungi and other organisms that live within the rhizospere (spelling)! Obviously, letting it dry out in the first place does a great deal of harm. But here, we will still be able to utilize what may have went dormant. The dried roots make a great natural net around the soil within too! As far as what exactly we're saving here, I honestly couldn't tell you. I have yet to have time to research further. Having done so much reading on plant, soil, and micro-biology as is, this is one those situations where shit just makes sense. And it has done EXCELLENT.
I like to use the roots and soil within them primarily for other purposes that will not be discussed here. This is timely and probably something most of you will disregard. That's ok. I like free. And knowing what's in my shit. Time and labor are rarely added into the cost of my gardening.

    The fun part

This isn't rocket science, and so I'm not going to go into details on how to shave your balls...

    IMG_20150320_152054.jpg

This plant was harvested about a week ago. Since then I have used a bit of the soil as you can tell (the pot isn't full). It's fine if you don't. The root ball I pulled up a few days ago. Once pulled, I knocked off some soil and tore some roots off back into the same container and set the ball back down until now. I tap the bottom with my palm a few times to knock off some loose stuff while at the same time compacting the bottom slightly. Then cusp, and press the root ball into size and shape. You want to take care and try to keep a good net of roots around it. I'm simply just planting seeds back into it. If I were to use it as a seed bomb package, I would have made sure to keep a better, strong root net. I'm just planting whatever I feel like when I feel like doing it.

    IMG_20150320_152105.jpg

Above: I finished making sure it was near size and shape, and well formed (which really didn't require doing anything to be perfectly honest) and then tossed that into the small pot you see. You can either let it sit here longer, or continue with use now. If you let it sit, it will eventually harden VERY nicely, such as those tough jiffy pellets everyone wastes money on. With this size of a root ball, I could cut it down into smaller sizes once it has hardened. Basil makes fantastic, compact, tight and hard root balls for the purpose outlined herein.

    IMG_20150320_152157.jpg

Here I have pressed it down so to compact it more. Once again, this root ball is mostly dry, sort of like peat moss dry. You can press, but it will still slightly "poof" back up. This is what I want at this time. If you let yours sit and harden, it will not re-expand. Next is to twist that now dried out stalk so that it will smoothly come out of the center, while leaving a great planting hole for a seed (or clone!) to be placed into. If the hole is to deep for your need, put some of the soil you had knocked off the bottom earlier or days before into it to bring it up to your needed level.

    IMG_20150320_230450.jpg

In the picture above, I have sown a Kentucky Wonder green bean (pole).  I chose a green bean for it's nitrogen fixing properties. There is a reason for this and it will be for a later project that I have in mind to share. You can plant anything you want. Seeds and plants I have done with this include: Sunflower, basil, sage, red beans, black beans, kale, spinach, cabbage, collards, potatoes (and sweet.mmm), nasturiums, mints, marigolds, squash, zuchinni, tomatoes, peppers (of all kinds), aloe vera, purple heart vines, ivy vines, spider plants, calla lilies, and so many more. I've tried a lot. Both seed and cuttings or clones have been done for practically all that can be tried. You should already know cannabis has been used. Remember where your at.

    IMG_20150320_230501.jpg

Now, if you haven't already, water this little bad boy in, slowly. Go use the bathroom and come back. Water some more if need be. Place it wherever you had planned. It will require slowly watering to penetrate the root system left behind. This concept should be kept in mind for those whom wonder whether their plants may be nearing root capacity within a pot/container. Generally, if it's hard for the water to penetrate the soil, it may be pretty full of roots. This also means that it will retain water longer. Great for most seeds and types of plants.

    Thanks for listening.

Mmm. I'm open to suggestions as to what to do with this. I'd like to try some new, fancy shit. Smoking it, baking it, and using it for hard candies is how I usually utilize trim. I know there's quite a bit of leaf in this batch. Time to be rid of it is priority, though not immediately necessary.

Ready to transplant in the morning. Got 7 pups being pulled from her as well. I took one two weeks ago to test out the soil that they would be going into. No problemo amigo.

Still in good shape. Time to move the two black ones (first photo above) into more light tonight. The clones in the cabinet finally needed watering. Watered each until runoff began. Plan on misting the whole thing at some point fairly well.

Pictures from today attached. They were taken quickly and uploaded at random. I was starting to work on my photography skills d:). I've been pondering (I love that word) putting more emphasise on this with my next cabinet build or room makeover.

I chopped some shit up. Only have what's necessary to maintain for now. I do have a couple clones (Picture 3, left solo cups) from the best mother (Picture 5) I am keeping. I'm basing "best" upon it's the most indica dominant I have been able to sprout thus far. I have some more good unknown seeds, but not worth the trouble at the moment to keep searching.

I'm about to take a month to prep, reorganize, and replan this year and next year. Step back and build from the soil up again. I have some compost ready that I'm going to tend to today and sit on it for a couple weeks. Take some time to reimplement some methods properly instead of flying by a whim because I'm overburdened. Hence, why I chopped some shit up.

But I got this. GIve me a moment. Hang in and I'll show you a new, stupid simple method of cooking pancakes [IMG]

  10. Good work iGrow,

Dope that you use so many everyday items in the garden haha.
Excited to watch and learn from you man! Anxious to see how a lot of things turn out!
    Keep it up bro

  11. Thanks man. I honestly feel that I'm half-assing, but I really have no other choice. I have to remain modular for other people's living habits and huge vagina's dictate so (even though they get most of the product). They are the silver spoon fed, give me everything for nothing, types. Costs me minimum $3k per month. But that's ok. :) Been on my shit for 3 months strong and it's about to pay off.

  12. Quick update
I'll have an update tonight. Haha

  13.
Yeah man I know all about it. I'm using CFLs only right now due to the space I have to work with, and that's back down from a 600w setups, with 300watts of LED in there too. I can't cool the space that I'm living in right now, so I've gotta go small in the mean time..

I find myself meditating daily, just to relieve the stress of knowing where I should be, but being unable to be there right now.
Life works in mysterious ways man. It's been almost 4 years now that I've been on my shit, so I know the feeling.
The come up is never an overnight process tho, so learning how to struggle on the way up is just a part of the process.
Same with life...U learn how to struggle on a daily basis, you'll be fine everyday, because going thru the good days is slight work you know.
And I'm only in relationships with ppl in life who I feel will do for me, what I'll do for them..
Otherwise our relationships are just hi and bye you know..

Enough of me preaching tho lol.
    Stay patient and stay persistent.
    Manifest your destiny.

  14. So, went into emergency mode. Everything's gone. Got 3.5 zips wet, so we'll say 1. I won't know cause it was gone in ten minutes from chop.

Really dampens my spirit. I probably won't be back around for a couple months until I get setup at my new spot. Which I've already picked out.

  16. Busy busy busy. Too busy to grow really, but I got this.

Moko loko GDP x The Purps
    1 week since drop

    Ravnus Diony Susus x Overlord
1 week since drop. This one isn't doing so good with minimum care nor straight sowing in soil (not my usual method of germination whereas I usually get 100% germination in a cup of water).
It's the same kind of container as the Moko but down below.

I believe the Moko loko GDP x The Purps likes higher temps to germinated. Seemed to respond more when 80-85f. The one day I left for work and came back 12 hours later, my temperature hit 86 steady all day and it stretched from near the bottom with hardly no soil to where you see it now. I added more than 50% of the soil that you see now last night.

I'm running my lights 24/7 for vegetation as well.

    On a side note:

Going to be slow comings, but I'm getting back in the saddle as needed.

I can't kill anything that actually gets past the seedling stage. My aloe Vera's outside in the cold rain won't die. Beans of different kinds in containers overflowing with rain water keep on growing. Some beans in solo cups knocked over on the ground all day long just grow along the ground. Plants viciously yanked from their cozy homes within the earth, carelessly thrown into the pile of soon to be ashed remains of their existences take hold and just want to remain full of life and grace us with their existence. Shit just grows and grows regardless. Beans, potatoes, cannabis, lavendar, basil, tomatoes, peppers of all kinds, squash, zucchini wouldn't sprout, leaf lettuce seeds are a bad stock but some keeps growing anyway, sunflower seeds have gone bad apparently too. Flowers of all kinds have been spread outside. Stinging nettle has been spread about the wooded area outside. Comfrey at my house and other two locations is taking off. Yarrow is flowering, and is ready to be chopped back to the soil so it can regrow.

I acquired a couple spider plants and purple heart vines again. The spider plants are for air purification. A few throughout the grow room make a huge NOTICEABLE difference in the atmosphere. Get some. NASA has these in the top 10 for the space shuttles. Don't quote me on that. May be top 15 or so. They send runners with lots of little babies real quick. Before you know it, your tossing enough in a bathtub of water to reroot filling the tub. :)

Being able to travel around more, I have spotted potential regions within my region where chamomile inhabits wildly.

These are notes more for myself than anyone else. Thanks for reading if you do happen too.

I'm regaining my own world one day at a time.

EDIT: Figured I'd just append this here. Not sure if an edit pops my topic back up top or not but there are far better threads that deserve king of the hill.

Ugh...got some pictures but my mobile device is acting up. I'll have to put it off for an hour or two. I have some work to do for a bit.

/* @TODO: Drop more beans tonight.

  19. I can in the least post pictures every morning. Ramblings first as usual. The green stuff last.

I've been sitting on a web cam (that's been my indoor security camera; I have cameras all over) I want to use for a time lapse when I move next month and get that place setup.

Looking at a 3/2 with full basement house. I don't like the location, but I've known the landlord since I was shittin in diapers. We'll see where the comfort level is at once I'm there.

  20. Picture #1: Comfrey at location #2. This is my main being cared for by my mother. She'll be utilizing the leaves for chop'n drop mulch. I'll be taking cuttings and crowns (once it spreads if at all).

Picture #2: Comfrey at location #1. You can also see my Yarrow my saved from the bulldozers last year. I didn't know they were putting a house, actually driveway, over where they were. So glad I happened to walk a two hour long distance that day. And with a bottle of water that they wound up using when I plucked them :)
