trying to put together a coco drip system.

  1. I plan on buying a 20-30 gallon rubbermaid garbage bin for my res putting a pump in the bottom. Feeding up to some type of 4-way splitter for my 4 7 gallon smart pots. I was considering using one of these halo drip feeders. Would anyone recommend using these type of feeders or have any other recommendations for what im trying to do? Ive never used water pumps before so this is all new to me. Just trying to figure it out as I go.

ya know i was thinking of doing something quite similar... either setting up a pump on a timer or just gravity feed it with a solenoid valve. right now im on a budget though so im trying to a find a cheap way to get out of it

also, just from experience.. rubbermaids don't seem to last very long to the weight of 20+ gallons of water. i'd suggest a res tank or maybe an industrial trash can.

  3. I use blumats, they have some issues but work pretty well.

  4. I run almost exactly that setup currently. I'm using a 35gal storage tote for my reservoir. It does bow out quite a bit at the top when its full but I wrapped some 16ga wire around it and that with the lid on it holds it in pretty well. Inside there are 2 air stones and 1 water pump just circulating. Another water pump routes out to 2 main lines which I have 1/4" drip hosing and stakes coming out of those. I attempted the black hole/ halo things you're talking about, and they will probably work fine for you, but I have to much of a variety of things in my tent so this way if something needs more or less water I can just add or take away a drip-stake. I have all the pots draining into a 4x4 table with a single hose routing right back into the reservoir. Works great for me, would totally suggest it.
