rasta_kid420s First Indoor Closet Grow

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by rasta_kid420, Mar 8, 2015.

  1. Hey GC rasta_kid420 here, I planned on starting a grow journal on here to document my first grow. I'm growing in my spare closet in my bedroom. I painted the walls white instead of putting Mylar up because we rent the house and I didn't want to adhere any material to the walls. For lights I'm using 3 23w cfls which I plan on upgrading to six hopefully soon when I get sockets splitters so I can put more than one bulb on the lamps. The k rating on the bulbs are 2700 for a single bulb and two 5000 k bulbs. I looked for 6500 k but 5000 was the best I could do. I got a power strip with a timer built in to it to kill two birds with one stone. For now I'm using an organic seed starting mix but I plan on buying roots organic soil and RO Buddha grow, bloom, and trinity. My seeds are germinating currently in a wet paper towel. I'm just using some bag seed I got from a friend and I'm hoping those lil tap roots start poking through tomorrow. Since its my first grow I didn't really want to spend money on seeds, but I hope after learning the basics I can buy some quality genetics. Just a little sketchy on ordering seeds since I'm in the U.S. in a non legal state, but maybe I could find a friend in the future who's house I could have them shipped to. I'll try and update the journal as much as possible, and if you have any suggestions feel free to toss them my way I'm open to new ideas and a good grower refuses to quit learning about their beloved cannabis plant :)

  2. Hey everyone I'm back and I just put 2/4 seeds in the ground! And am still working on another two. I germinate a couple extras just in case the seeds don't want to pop. I'll report back soon.

  3. Hey blades I have an exciting update the cotyledons and first leaves are forming on one sprout so far and the stem is beginning to straighten out I'm still germinate some seeds but I still have only two planted. Not exactly what I hoped for but it's better than nothing.

  4. Alright, Im back with an update. Out of 5 sprouts I now have 3 little seedlings that are doing pretty well. I have slight nutrient burn on the them which was my dumb ass fault but theyre are recovering from it. The biggest one also the most yellow one is starting to get his second pair of leaves and you can see the little tiny nodes one the first leaves of the others.

  5. Hey GC Im back, my last grow suffered from a damping off problem which I lost all my plants but now Im doing a lot better, learned from last grows mistakes so my seedlings are doing well. They are just over a week old from sprout and are reaching the tops of their cups. The single plant picture is my biggest seedling as you can see its three finger leaves are developing well.

  6. Subbed mate, be interested to see how it goes. As for the Mylar problem you said you rent why not use adhesive Velcro strips after you've done you can just peel the strips of the wall, using Mylar is the best option for the plants :)

  10. Looking good, I figured id need more light but for now Im just running 3 26 W cfls. 2 5000k (I looked for 6500) and a 2700k. I was gonna get some socket splitters for my lamps because I boughr 4 packs of bulbs but Im working with what I have now.

  11. I'm also on my first, I'm using 8 23 watt and 1 42 watt. All 2700k except 2 are 6500. It seems to be more than enough for one plant. I started with six and naturally narrowed it down to my one happy female

  13. Looking good chef, she looks pretty happy with the lighting. My little plants are just now working on there 3rd nodes and their 5 finger leaves. They're just a week and 3 days though, so I'd definitely think their doing pretty well. My last attempt, to which they all damped off they took a long time to grow but i made a switch on the photo-period from 18-6 to 24-0, I've seen far better results this way.  I'd like to get into LED lighting at some point in the future, but the cost prevents me from doing so now, so its cfl's for now. I'd look into HID lights but I'm renting and don't know what i would do about ventilation. Anyways happy growing, I'll report back with an update soon.

  14. Ya I'd like to upgrade a few things also including my lighting .. on a tight budget and I wanna learn what not to do before I invest a lot of money..

  15. Yeah same here man, I just transplanted  my plants to bigger pots because they were becoming root bound and I'm a little nervous for my biggest, cuz i was a little rough with it. So i hope she turns out alright ( I'm sure it will) but this is the first time I've grown any kind of plant from seed so I'm not what you would call an experienced gardener.

  17. Ill take some in the am right now tho Im going to bed

  18. Well don't worry too much, your females are prob gonna be the smaller of the six. Your biggest healthiest plant might be male

  19. Hey Rasta, keep up the good work man. I hope you get some dank final product. Also if you plan on transplanting your plants again, let me know. I figured out a pretty good way to transplant which pretty much eliminates any transplant shock. Best of Luck

  20. Hey everyone im back... Not too much change just development with the 3rd node for most of my babie. The ones I did transplant didn't suffer to much shock except the one I was rough with which has a little spotting and yellowing on first leaves. Im going to transplant the runts soon since I didn't realize how bad root bound was on the big ones so im gonna put them in a new home soon. All is well in the closet for the most part and I'll be back soon. Sorry about the pic btw its not of the greatest quality.
