Removing fan leaves before harvest

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by uremom3, Mar 7, 2015.

  1. So ive heard that a week before you harvest you need to remove all the fan leaves. I just kind o feel like one week is too much. Wouldnt the plant die with a whole week without hardly any leaves left? Or should i do this? Another part of my question is it good to leave the plants in a complete 48 hours of darkness right before you chop them down? Ive heard that leaving them on darkness creates more resin. Im about 2-3 weeks before harvest and im trying to plan it out so i have the best buds possible. Any suggestions?

Don't remove fan leaves especially during flowering. Placing plants in darkness before harvest only causes cells to expand and divide. I've seen and done the results myself the stems on plants I've used extended dark on plants and had cracks and splits where the stem had enlarged. No apparent flowering besides extended leaves for capturing sunlight. You will not get any further bud from anything except genetics. Please read from more intelligent people and not just hearsay and high times.

Remove the leaves when you are trimming up the bud on harvest day, not before.

Leaving them in the dark will do nothing. They have been having 12 hours of darkness every day for the last 8 weeks, and will likely be dark throughout the drying period, a few extra hours isn't going to do shit.

Don't harvest too early is the best advice I can give you. There's nothing you can do a few days before harvest that will make any difference, that's what the last 8 weeks was for, once that's up its done
