Sup guys, Im not sure if this is the best place to put this topic, so if its out of place, forgive me! Anyways, me and my bro got some shatter and its pretty nice, we did it on a blunt and i hated it because im just not a fan of blunts personally. That being said I've seen many people melt it on top of a bowl using the radiant heat from a lighter (i dont have an embur or something comparable) so i was wondering if i could do this with shatter? Im pretty new to actually using hash so i wasnt sure if theyre are any limitations for different kinds of hash in the way they can be smoked. I dont have a rig or a pen, and I'm not looking to buy one of those yet since im still getting accustomed to hash oil. My brother seems unconvinced that it can be used through a bong as he believes it will simply melt through and be wasted as it goes down the downstem of the bong. I say it will melt into the weed as it should and make a really awesome bowl! He has a valid concern and even though i dont think its likely that it will happen i still would like your guys' opinion because hash smoked is always better than hash potentially wasted! it is far better that you use the proper dab rig etc, etc. however, you can most certainly melt it on top of your bowl when you hit it. like you were saying, it is the use of radiant heat that will melt and vaporize the wax. just hit it easy at first. hardly draw any air. then as it starts to vape up, continue hitting it harder and harder until you choke down the bong toke. best to do tiny dabs on single bong tokes. at least i found it to work better that way. no runny wax through the downstem this way. another way would be to crush up bud real fine, then mix it with the wax. making hash effectively. it burns lie a smokey old torch but it will get you fucked up. just light it up, let it smolder and smoke away. use a glass cup to capture the smoke and then inhale your hit. or use a cardboard tube to capture the hit. honestly though, get a rig. hell make one out of an old bong. all you need is the nail and torch pretty much. my first rig was made from an old bong and worked notoriously well for what it was.

I could see an answer to your problem by using a double male adapter. But I'm not sure what you mean by not glass on glass.
It's doable for sure. I agree a proper rig I much better. But I usually break the weed up very well so that it cherries quickly and fully.
