  1. Hey guys!

I just started my first grow about a week and a half ago. After planted my seed, she grew out of the coco coir overnight in about 5 days. After about 2 more days, she fell over so I dug her up and replanted her so that only about an inch was out of the coco and attributed the problem to too little light and moved my lights closer. She grew a little more but tilted over again. I dug her up again and replanted her. (I'm not sure if this was a big no no). Anyway, now the cotyledons are browning and the first set of leaves are curling inward. They are not as green as they were at first. I've listed important details below:

(1)I started her off in a two gallon pot, then transplanted her into a solo cup once a fellow grower told me that was best.

    (2) Before I planted the seed, I mixed my coco coir with perlite and added 1/4 of the recommended dosage of CalMag. (I PH'ed the water before mixing everything together with the coco)

    (3) I'm using three 150W Soft White 2800 Lumens CFL's which I keep about 4 inches from the plant (not sure if this is too close or maybe too far, but the heat doesn't burn my hand between the plant.)

    (4) I just put a fan in the room today because I was afraid she wasn't getting enough CO2.

    (5) I only added a small dosage of nutes (Canna Aqua Vega) after the first set of leaves came in. (This was about a day after they started to curl up on me.)

    (6) She is a bagseed, and on a 18/6 sched.

I've attached a pic, and hopefully someone can help me out. Let me know if you need more details or another pic. Thanks! :))

You should have just left it in the original pot

I don't like the sound of your soil mix go to the organic thread and get the basic soil recipe then you don't need any fertilizer, but if you are going to use fertilizer head to the local garden store and get some pro mix. no fertilizer until you can see that the plant needs it. Another thing to do is read as much as you can there is a lot of info on GC.

I don't use CFL's but from watt I understand you should be using at least 100 actual watts and keep them as close as possible. I am sure there is someone here that can give you solid advice on CFL's you can also head over to the lighting section for some good reading material.

Fan on low and not blowing directly at the seedling

No more nutes your gonna fry the seedling

Good lighting schedule. That plant in the pic may never grow, I would make a better plan and start over you may be able to get that to recover but it may be a good idea to start a new seed. Good luck

  3. To add, you dont want your cfl's that close until your plants start gettin they're serrated leaves

  4. I thing the poor bleeding thing is dizzy from all the transplanting lol

  5. Don't suffocate the new puppy, that's what my girlfriend tells me about my new plant, but i gotta watch it gro!

If you have more seeds maybe you should start again? After 1 1/2 weeks im fairly sure that it should have more growth.  I had two seedlings in solo cups that didn't grow very much at all after 2 weeks, like they didn't grow past how big your plant is atm. In my opinion tho, i watered it too much even with a sprayer, and i believe that i had my cfl's too closely to the new seedling thinking it could grow better, with 24/7 light schedule. I believe I did everything wrong to some point. i transplanted after not seeing it grow for about 3 days and only getting slowly yellow, I thought i did the transplant carefully, but one seedling slipped and lost most of its dirt/root ball. but it ended up not even having roots at all, like none in the soil it was origannly in either. They must have died already and the stem was just holding them in the dirt. (the seeds were also pale green/white so nonviable by the books). Not sure if i manhandled them to death or they were gona die anyways, i'm more surprised they sprouted at all.

Thats my xp tho maybe it will help your situation, and do your research within this site! I have a third seedling growing much healthier (it could do better) due to nights of lurking in the Organics an beginners areas here.

It sucks to have shit die, but tryin again and making it green is worth the effort n research
