HELP please. Wilma scrog

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by wrecker92, Mar 4, 2015.

  1. Hi, I've been growing in a wilma for a while now and like it. I've wanted to try a scrog for a while as everything I've read about it makes it sound great. The only problem I have is that I can't think of how I'd be able to change the water? I mean at min I take everything out and what not but if I can't move the plants how can I get the water out? And experience? Thanks.

  2. I use a submersible pond pump to get the water out of mine.

Easy as plugging it in .

  3. Thanks for the reply. I did think of that but I thought there would be quite a lot left at the bottom of the reservoir?

  4. Maybe a little.. It gets most of it out.

I cycle a bit of fresh water into the RES while its pumping out to help wash it out.

  5. Yeah that's fair might have to do that as I've heard great things about scrogs. Can you buy something to fit in a tent or have to make it yourself? Didn't know if you knew this

  6. Just wondering I've looked at netting on scrog and if I tie nets to the poles of the tent how can I fit in the fan on the floor ect.

  7. How big are your squares? In the net 1x1 2x2?

PVC frame? Used eye hooks or drill holes to sting the net thru?

  8. When I grew scrog I drilled a hole and put a drain in it and raised my res off the ground about 10" to get something under it to drain. I also had my screen in a frame on pulleys so I could hoist the whole plant up once she got big enough to hold herself with the screen. Worked well for me.

I do what TL3 said, I use an aquarium pump. You can get ones that suck up from the bottom so will only leave about a quarter of an inch of water at the end. I then chuck a bucket of empty water in and pump that out too and its pretty much sorted. I like the idea of a drain tap that Jras mentioned  though ^^.

Or you could build a table or shelf to put the pots on and have the res underneath

  10. I drilled a 1" in the bottom of my reservoir. Inserted a rubber grommet. Took some PVC adapters, a PVC valve, a PVC elbow and made it so it drains out the bottom. Cost me around $5.

I have a separate container I mix my nutes in with a similar PVC setup that drains out the side instead of the bottom.

Just let gravity do the work.

  13. I hooked up a bulkhead to mine and use a valve to let it drain
