Lime scale in percolator bong?

  1. Hello guys!

I have a bit of a problem with my lovely big grace glass percolator bong

Despite the fact that I have attempted to keep it clean as good as I can, and besides using filtered water (from a brita filter), a decent amount of limescale has built up in the bottom of my bong, as well as in the part where the percs are

What do you guys do to remove limescale? I know boiling vinegar works to get rid of limescale, but will it also work if I boil vinegar and let that sit in my bong? I have tried conventional bong cleaner and it doesn't get rid of the limescale...

How do I prevent this from happening? Will distilled water do the trick? I went through some related threads and read people use distilled water so I could give that a try!

    Thanks for any input!

  2. Oops, I see I accidentally posted this in the medical toking tools, my apologies if this needs to be relocated :)

  3. spray nine, rubbing alcohol, super hot water, or actual cleaner meant for cleaning bongs. not sure how good spray nine is for you but iv had to use it before...

  4.
Tried bong cleaner, that didn't work.. Neither did rubbing alcohol or hot water. Spray nine I don't know but I assume it's some kitchen/bathroom kind of deal to remove limescale? Been considering using something like that myself but like you say, don't know if it's good for you...

Thanks for chiming in! I might have to try with boiling vinegar as I think there's not a whole lot of other options left.

Still, would be interesting to read what others have done with their limescale stained glass (especially the hard to reach places, I can scrape out the bottom, but not the percs...)

  5. I have heard real lemon juice left overnight can work very well, also combining neat vinegar will help the process.

No need to boil any of those though, but the next day after an overnight soak, add boiling water to the solution, wait 10 mins, then flush the entire contents away and rinse with very hot water, then a final rinse with cold.

    See what happens.

  6. You should try PBW (powdered brewery wash). It's a powerful cleaner used to kill the bacteria left after brewing a batch of beer. It's pretty potent at removing caked-on gunk but it's natural enough to not leave any harmful chemical residue.

Can find it on Amazon just fyi.

  7. Its calcium build up and the best way to get rid of that would be clr calcium lime and rust remover . Just make sure to not get it on any labels or stickers your bong may have
