  1. LED Grow Closet Setup Help:

Hey guys, when I have the funds to update my grow from CFLs and Tubes to LED with CFLs.

I have a closet area of 94(H)x48(L)x24(W) , and I want to boost my total growth this year by upgrading to more lights at the same time keeping heat and power cost down.  Letting you know, cost won't be a factor because I'm gonna buy this one piece at a time when I can afford it.

I want to start off with this set of materials:

    Grow Tent

2 LED lights, preferably above 100 watts each

5 Gallon Pots, I'm thinking smart pots.

Of course I would be running organic soil but am open to suggestions on different grow mediums.

I can rig together a few Carbon Filters to hide the smell.

    My Choices in Grow Tents:

    First Choice: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SWGZ2K2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_QDK8ub0CQ506W

It's a 2 in 1, Veg and Flower and would fit in my area, wouldn't really need the veg part unless I had more than a few plants running, would be convenient.

    Second Choice:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H9OVMO8/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_VJK8ub1YEYEPD

This is your regular small tent, just enough to fit in the closet and allow enough room for lights and whatever else you wanted to fit in there.

First or Second choice? Or is there a better one all around?

As now for lighting, I honestly need some opinions on the subject. I'm going for LED lights, with some support CFLs on the side. I want at least 100 watts each Led panel.

My first choice was the Galaxyhydro; 135w LED Grow Light UFO 45x3w Ir Uv Flower Plant Grow Lamp Full Spectrum with 3w Leds: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00INM0BPG/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_-NK8ub1STYYQP

I was thinking about two of those, because 135w would be enough for a few small plants.

Then I came across my second choice: GalaxyhydroTM 300w LED Grow Light Full Spectrum for Greenhouse and Indoor Plant Flowering Growing

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00INM0750/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_LRK8ub0J62VK8

This is a 300w LED panel, for 150 USD, you can't go wrong in my book. Maybe this and a UFO LED would be better together....They also have a 600w panel for 250, which is a great price.

Tell me opinions on this subject.  I  want to have the best cabinet when I can afford it. Thanks for reading my post.

Feel free to check out my current grow in my signature.

  2. Hello? 😓👽

  3. Just dropping off my 2 cents here

For the tents, I would definitely say get that first one. That is a huge plus having a separate section for vegging. The light for that wouldn't have to be too strong depending on how you want to use, and you'd be saving weeks between harvest if you cycle plants through it efficiently.

I'd say for lights get the second one. Your looking between 45 3w Leds for $110 or 100 3w Leds for $150. Make sure you research about the LED lights to make sure its not some cheap chinese LED that will burn out and also if possible, try to find how much watts the lights actually draw. I remember finding a thread in here that had people hook there LED panels up to a watt reader and there were LED panels claiming 300 watt yet only drawing like 130 true watts. Those ones you posted look like they should be fine though.

Good luck man, hope this helped.

  4. Thanks for the input, I was thinking the first tent would be a good idea, I'm just gonna try to find it at a better price. Now, I will look into the Led panel. I think the actual watts on the second choice is 150, so I was thinking two panels.

  5. Hey

I started in a similar size space about 5 years ago! I would completely ditch the idea of the tent and just get some good mylar for the closet.  I started with a tent in a closet and found it was just too restrictive and didn't make sense.  I would just buy some pond liner to protect the floor from water spills.  Then mylar the walls, this way you get every inch of your space to utilize.  As far as the LED's I would buy quality so you don't have to replace it later.  I've bought those cheap LED's and the customer service you get when something goes dead is terrible.  I would recommend PlatinumLED- amazon link below.  Either way GL and keep us posted.

  6. The area I have already has Mylar and Reflectors in it, I was thinking about a tent to hide my light leaks, and such. The door that is on it now doesn't help hide the light. A tent would be a good idea for me because I have to be some stealth like in the sense of smell and light leaks. I've been growing in the closet for about 3 years now give or take, and I'm just ready to upgrade somewhat.

Plus a tent would allow the use of the top shelf in my closet...

I'll look into the links you gave me. Thanks for the input dude.

I'd go with the Apollo Horticulture tent. I have their 4x4x6.8 tent and it's been great. And for the price I don't think you could get much better.!

Anyways for the LEDs I've heard some good things about the Mars Hydro Reflector Series.

Lowes/HD sells thick insulating foam boards

You could cut length-wise to fit in a corner

    Make one panel the 'door'

Tough space for more than 100-150w above the canopy

Consider one Amare Technologies Solar Spec 100-150 on top

Midway one 2 ft 4 bulb hot5 will provide excellent side lighting, strong enough to light both sides

  9. This insulating foam is actually a good idea.

I am building my first LED tent grow. Will one LED Platinum (plus a couple CFL's) be enough light? I am only planting 2 plants. I want to use the same tent for veg&flower. I'm planting in soil & a good carbon filter is a must. 4'x4'x8' is as big as I can go. I'm looking at ordering most supplies from HTG. Are their LED's superior/inferior to the LED Platinum?

On a side note: what strains are best suited to my needs? I want to grow 1 indica & 1 sativa. Since it's such a small grow, I'm looking for as big a yield as possible.
Also, any first hand experience with Legit mail-order seed company's that take cash?

    i am using a pair of 600 for 5 x 7 x 5.5 ,six white widows and fast growing.
    can't beat the warranty either!
