hi i am just about to start my first grow and looking for any advice that you guys can give me on my setup 120x120x200 tent 600w hps light HOBBY Rhino Fan + Filter Kit 150mm 6" "A" i plan to grow 5 plants using the scrog method in coco using canna nutes i still havent decided on what strain im going with but im leaning towards incredible bulk as the old lady at the seed shop says there really hard to fuck up so would be ideal for a 1st time grower like myself any advice is appreciated thx
OK first off ... Hps is really only good for flower. It won't produce enough of the right colored spectrum for veg and germ... You will need a 600w metal halide bulb as well.. Also to germ properly I would crab a few CFLs or a t5 .. Something low heat and high light to get them started right ..you don't want them to stretch so keep the light low during germ .. Also you'll need to decide quickly if your going to go SOG or with the 5 plant because you will need to figure out how much soil and what size nutrients to go with. You will need a thermometer and hygrometer.. Then you decide the strain.. Decide if your injecting co2 also... Learn a few techniques to increase yeild and pick starter strains .. I don't know about incredible bulk .. I know white widow and northern lights are easy and mold resistant .. Strain is all about research and genetics.. Ask about the stability of the strain (likelyhood of it growing and producing the same way every time a new a seed germs) make sure you test your equipment for 3-5 days on a standard light cycle to find out if how you need to tweak your environment and don't germ until your environment is safe sterile and and consistent .. Some strains do better in heat and some better in cold some humid some not.. That all goes into you choice for a strain.. Picking a strain is about stability and your ability to control your environment.. The rest of growing is upkeep ... Hope this helped.. hi thanks for the reply and the advice my tent is 47.2 inches length 47.2 inches width 78.7 height the light iv got is dual spec i thought that this would be ok for both veg and flower as that is what it said in the description. i would like to scrog the 5 plants if my space permits lol. im not going with the co2 as its my first and i dont want to over complicate things thx
Although MH is optimal for veg, hps will work too, so no big deal if you can't get a bulb right away (assuming your ballast is dual ballast?). And you don't need co2, the exhaust fan will pull in enough fresh co2 for your plants.
CO2 is advanced....i mean the plants basically use it but getting the CO2 or dealing with the heat produced from gas burner or having all your CO2 just drop to the bottom and seep out because its shitty and heavy....lol
Wow I have basically the same setup as you and this will be my first REAL grow taking things seriously. I do have a t-5 but I'm still going to get a mh bulb cause I don't think my t-5 would be enough for 5-6 plants. Hope we can both be successful. I'm going to just try and keep things simple and take my time do a lot of reading etc... Tried growing inside a few years ago with bubble bucket... Was surprised how easy it seemed had the plant growing for awhile but then i killed it somehow. (Think I over powered it with nutes).
