MAIN-LINING

Discussion in 'Plant Training' started by VTX1800, Feb 27, 2015.

  1. Haven't been here for a while, but now I'm back and growing a plant using this meathoud of training.
It's called mainlining and has been around for a few years.
First created by Nugbuckits ( I think) .
I started about a month ago with what was a sick plant but I saved it and decided to try the M-L meathoud just to see how it all worked.
So far I'm very pleased with the way it's going.
Here's a pic of how it looks now, but I have pics from the first week also.
I take a new pic every day to show its progress.
    Any comments would be welcome.
    Good to be back.

It's a type of training that produces 4-8-16 or 32 main colas or stems. That are all the same hight and the same distance from the roots.
Like the plant in my first post.

Can't seem to get the post right I'll try later. image.jpg image.jpg

  8. First time I did it I yield poorly. Then I did it again dealing that she was only going to be half the height. So I moved her closer to the light. I yielded slightly higher. But all the nugs were huge. No medium or small nugs at all. Pretty neat stuff.

  9. Yeah, the popcorn buds are what I'm trying to avoid, and it's just plain fun to do it.
    I like experimenting.

  10. How many colas are you going for. I want to try doing it to 4 plants, each with 8 colas within a 4x4 tent

Nug buckets seems to have great results with this method

  11. I have 8 colas on the I have now, and she is ready to harvest in a week.
She did not grow very even, with one side being a lot taller than the other, but a lot better than growing a Christmas tree.
The difference had nothing to do with the main lining but more to do with the plant itself.
You might be able to get 4 plants in that tent but I think it will be crowded in there.
I used a 2 gal pot this time but next time I'm going to use a 5 gal so I can spread the colas out more.
I will only had one girl in my 32x32" tent at a time, because even I the 2 gal pot the top colas are 24" wide.
And I would cage them also next time to keep them from flopping over when they get full of buds.
I had to run string around then to keep them from spreading out and falling over.
I also left a lot of the lower side shoots grow out. They have nice buds on them but next time I will remove
    all but the main cola.
I'm not that interested in volume as opposed to the quality of the buds. Not saying that it doesn't have some
awesome buds on it right now, but I think they could be a little better if the plant hadn't put any energy into the side colas.
All in all I think this main lining is the best way to go.

  12. A scrog net incorporated into the grow would work to space the colas apart evenly and hold them up.

Also they may not have grown as evenly because of the side shoots taking energy. I'd love to see some pictures anyway.

  13. This is a pic I took today.
Really fat colas and not ready.
    Enjoy,

  14. The net would be a great idea if I didn't put that plant inside at night.
    So it would be difficult.
I would do something like that during the winter when I would have her in the tent All the time.
I have her in coco in a 2 gal air pot, but when I pic het up I can feel that she is all roots in there.
    5 gal next time.

  15. Damn dude! That looks great, 8 of those on a plant and your laughing. 5 gal's only going to be better.

  16. This is the whole plant.
It's about 30" tall not counting the pot.
There are only 5 really nice colas, but even the small popcorn side buds are as big as golf balls or bigger.
I'll get a shot frame the top tomorrow.
    Enjoy,

  18. Maybe it's not perfect, but it's better than growing a Christmas tree.
Next time spread the first node out before you let it grow straight up.
