Multi Strain First grow

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by hobbes2k, Feb 27, 2015.

  1. Doing this on my phone, will update when I'm home on pc.

    start date 2-13-15

So I have grown in soil before and this is my first hydro grow.I'm using 6 18 gallon bucket with 4 6inch baskets. Each with an airstone, a 250 cfl 6400k above each set(3 total) also 8x32 watt hanging inverted inbetween. I'm using the following nutrients:
    Sensi grow a-b 150ml
    B-52 75ml
    Sensezym 300ml
    and Raw brand root strengthener
I change the reservoirs every 2 weeks due to size.

    Temps vary at 70-79*
    I use a isolating fan
2x 4 inch duct in and out fans
commercial air pump with a 6 way splitter

    strains:
    blue power
    white widow
    holy grail
    gsc thin mint
    gsc platinum
    akorn
    WiFi
    d12

my grow has started off well and all of my ladies have been looking good up until today. I took some quick pics and will post a while series when I am home.

The leaves are starting to dimple up and act odd

You pry need more air, and you need to be sure the temps inside the totes stays below 75. 65-68 would be ideal.
Buy another air pump or two, and get like 4 airstones in each tote.

  4. Thank you so much for the advice, I'll do that first thing today and update

  5. No problem.
With dwc, you can never have too much air. However, it's real easy to not have enough. Especially once the root mass starts bulking up.

  6. Finally finished flushing them all out and adding in 6 more air stones on a new air pump, some big berthas. Looks like rapids inside now. Thank you again for the heads up. They are already very up pointing and vibrant. I have pictures of my grow setup to show you now as well. The strains in order are, holy grail - thin mint gsc - WiFi and white widow (2x) - ak47 - platinum gsc - and 2x d12 and blue power. These are pictures prior to flushing and looking better. My gsc thin mint has finally dropped roots so I hope those clones start to stretch a bit. Upgrades, improvements, thoughts or what the f are you doing....? Let me know,I also decided to cut my heavy nutes and just go lan right now with only hydro farm veg, sensizym, and Raw silica

  7. Looks like you're ready to rock n roll! Nice setup.
Get ready for explosive growth. They're gonna love all the air.
Be sure to keep all your temperatures in a happy spot.

  8. New development.... So when turning the lights on I noticed a odd but not awful smell. I looked at the roots and found them very white( picture lighting makes them look brownish) but encrusted in foam and almost cocoonish snot.....?they don't look unhealthy, they look really good actually.... Any ideas?

  9. Is this something to do with the silica? Or sensizym?

  10. Hey just a fyi that commercial air pump with the 6 way are pretty good, but also think about investing in the 8 way diffuser, has adjustable knobs to increase decrease or shut off valves, comes in handy especially since airstones are inconsistent on pressure. Just some food for thought. Things are looking good tho

I'm not familiar with those nutes, can't help on them.
That slime is likely the onset of root rot. What is the temperature of your nutes? It needs to stay under 70F.
You need to rinse that shit off. Maybe even do an h2o2 soak.
You need to determine if you want to run a sterile res, or if you're going to use a beneficial tea.
Me thinks you need to do a bit of researching.

Edit:  Also, I hope you have ph, and ppm meters.

  12. I did drain all 6 resevoirs I have. I cleaned off the slime, I have been doing a H202 treatment, I upped the ammounts and went with a lean nutrient bath for right now, just using the General Hydro's Grow and H2o2 atm. My PH levels are at 5.8 and water temperature goes from 70-72* on average. I am waiting for my hydroguard to arrive to help aid with the issues as well as a portable AC unit I just purchased. All 6 resevoirs including my secret little grow box in a different room started to develop these issues. I think it might have to do with the Sensizym that I introduced into the mix. This time I am going without it and seeing the results. Roots are pearly white again and everything looks healthy still. I will update on new developments. As for the tea I am interested in keeping that in my res but I am confused what I really need for it. I have read very conflicting recipes and opinions. If you have any good advice on that matter, Im all ears :) Thanks again for you input. (Thank you everyone who has chimed in )

Oh I would post new pictures but...... I dropped my HTC One into my res and yeah .... waiting till end of month for new phone lol

  13. Again, can't help with AN stuff. My dwc is sterile. I don't use teas.
I've used hydroguard for plants potted in loose rockwool, and top fed.
Not sure I even need it. lol
Bought the hype someone was selling. Figured it'd protect the roots since I can't even see them.

  14. Just out of curiosity, are there rockwool cubes buried in the clay pellets?
