Hi y'all, running a platinumLED 800 watt HPS equivalent grow light and only flowering ten plants right about now, looking to pull more than as much as possible. Should I switch my tactics up and go for the SOG method and start using my two gallon pots and run like 20 plants? Is that advantageous over ten plants in 5 gallon containers? I get about 30 solid inches of canopy penetration if that makes a difference, all run organic in soil. Will i yield more in smaller contaners since there is less crowding overall and restrict their growth so they don't bush out? any thoughts would be great!
If i had an led the only ways to go are sog or scrog to get that nice even light plane....i have been soggin for years.....look up lollipop grows.
So in your opinion, go for more smaller plants? I'm looking to only keep them like 30 inches so like 16 smaller ones? can I achieve this height in flower without a problem in 1.8 gallon containers? That way i can run like 25 of them and really get things going
WORD! Exactly what i was looking for, SAWEETTT so 1.8 is large enough, my other option is to run 3.5's and run 16 of them. or run 1.8's and run 25 of them, any thoughts on the better yield?
More plants .....always faster yield.....i use 2 g pots filled to 1.5 ish Just keep watch for dry spot on the ground next to the vents in your tent....just water them a bit more
He's got the right idea...since an LED system is built to work FAR closer than an HID, and gives off one FUCK of a lot more light energy than a CFL/tube, you want a nice, spacious, relatively even canopy...best accomplished by SOG or SCROG. You can literally do one of these as low as 6" off the top of the pots, but I suggest at least 10", preferably 18...but to go to 18, and screen them, you're going to need 8-10 weeks of veg, which calls for 5 gallon pots, not 2 gallon pots (you can cheat, and buy Rubbermaid under the bed storage bins, and run 2-3 plants per, believe it or not). At any rate, don't JUST go LED, as some PAR bands are still missing entirely, and others under-represented, with the best of them...toss in 4-6 CFLs in 2700K (150 watt equivalency best, but 100 watt equivalency works). I'd actually suggest 4 150 equivalency CFLs and two desert reptile CFL bulbs of the highest wattage your nearest petstore carries, as the reptile bulbs help absorption and fixing of certain minerals. That above isn't saying LED alone won't do the job, just saying you can do BETTER, cheaply.
yup, they run much cooler and I get them much closer, the led I'm using has 11 bands of tuned light, <span> 380 / 415 / 440 / 460 / 480 / 615 / 630 / 660 / 720 / 740 / 760 nm. There isn't any range of usable light that the LED isn't covering, the light has the highest PAR of any I am aware of on the market so there really is no need for CFL's.....And Im not so big into scrog, or running multiple plants per bin as they compete for root space and micronutrients and it ends up doing more harm than good IMO. my scrog didn't yield as much as i was hoping last time and frankly is quite the pain in the arse to cut all the little ropes, restring, not burst trich's etc....so SOG it is! </span>
Spot on....vitamin D B and C uptake.....and you should see the cheap old lights and year old bulbs i use....thats the product hahaha And dont do your canopy too close to the pots....you wont be able to get your hands under it haha 32w reptisun deserts and a year old 32 dollar 1khps I have 2 clones in a 2 g pot right now....neither killed the other
Yeah, Ive been there before, watering is so difficult without at least 6 inches of clearance. I will be doing a SOG and trying it out this run, seems like the smaller are the better, I usually veg for about two months, so Im guessing I should try and cut down on my veg time and run them only 4-6 weeks, 6 weeks being the upper end. If I'm shooting for 30 inch plants that usually equates to about 4 weeks after rooting from clone so that sounds about right
Sounds good to me.....30 and 70 from first root....and a plant will only grow too tall if you physically do nothing about it. People may think i abuse my plants but when you give them a good work out it ups the LDH in the plant and boosts binary fission creating a strong LITTLE plant.
something tells me I need more lighting! looking at it from my 2 new plants, sprouted ~ Feb 5th, and not even close to what you fellas are getting in 20+ days... my photo album is my grow journal, 1st real attempt at growing my own. any suggestions welcome
What is the actual wattage of the panel? The HPS 'equivalent' numbers thrown out by the manufacturers are inflated to say the least. I keep my 500w (actual wattage no LED wattage) panel farther away for better results. I start at 3-4 feet above the plants and let the plants grow up to with 18-24 inches. I used to keep HID lights a lot closer than I keep the LED panel.
Just giving advice based on personal experience. Mind your own business shit stain. What do you want to be when you grow up? Stretch? 3 weeks veg 4 ft below the LED panel. Yeah right, lots of stretch.

And just because you take your pics with the light off does NOT mean your plant is more green....but you would know that if you knew what you were doing.
alright y'all simmer down. the actual watts are 368 but its the PAR magnitude that surpasses or is equivalent to a 800 hps. but that above, green thumbs, right there is an EVEN canopy, I would probably flower them a bit taller since my light seems to penetrate fairly well.
