what's happenin y'all? as the title says, this is my first run in coco coir...i did organic soil grows for about four years, so i'm well-versed in the game, just new to coco itself...i'm growing 16 plants to flower...4 jah kush, 6 snow goddess, 4 blue dream an 2 SFV OG kush...i'm shooting for .75 GPW off this one, tho i know with coco i should be able to hit 1.0 GPW with everything dialed in... i'm runnin botanicare coco in a 60/40 mix with chunky perlite (60 coco, 40 perlite)...AN line for nutes...VEG = AN sensi A/B, GH diamond nectar, botanicare calmag+, GH fruit n fusion, superTHRIVE, an hygrozyne...FLOWER = AN sensi A/B, AN bud initiator (or instigator, whatever it's called lol), AN big bud, AN overdrive, GH diamond nectar, botanicare calmag+, GH fruit n fusion, an hygrozyne... i started with 1/2 strength on the veg stuff, but i'm up to about 2/3 strength...but i tweak that a bit, in that i use close to a full dose of the molasses sweetener (fruit n fusion) an will be running about 1 1/2 times the recommended dose for the sweetener in flowering...i also was using only 1/3 strength on the sensi A, as it's all N (3-0-0) an the calmag+ is pretty nitrogen rich at 2-0-0...lower leaves were way too dark an lush...it's kinda nice, the calmag saves me money on the sensi lol... i'll be using the calmag up thru the first three weeks of flower, then cutting it out...from what i've read, continuing calmag thru the whole flower cycle can cause K lockout due to the excess calcium...the fruit n fusion has a nice bit of magnesium in it, so i'll be solid on mag without the calmag... i'm running two 400 watt MH's in the veg room (a 5x5 apollo tent), an four 600 watt HPS in the flower room (a 10x10 tent, but not apollo)...i've got the veg tent completely packed (the pics here are from a week ago an they've bushed out way more since then), but the flower room i'm shooting for an 8x8 canopy...from previous experience, while one 600 HPS will cover a 4x4, having multiple lights increases the coverage area of each light...i.e., in a reflective 10x10 room, four 600 HPS will cover pretty much the whole room with solid light...but i need room to walk around the plants so i can't do that lol... i'll be going to a SCROG or vertical grow after my first couple runs, but for now i'm doing a lot of LST an supercropping...i SC the stems to 90 degree angles an LST by pinning the branches to the soil with jerry-rigged coathangers (i cut the corners off, an pin the stalks down towards the soil with them)...i've had some pretty bad snaps on the SC'ing, mainly on the jah's (had a couple branches bent beyond 90 degrees, just hanging on for dear life smh)...but i haven't had one not heal yet, save for one of the SFV OG's...i was tryna SC the main stem when it was young, an the damn thing just snapped in half...makes me hella sad, cuz it was almost twice as big as it's sister, an now it's the smaller of the two, even three weeks later... i spray for mites once a week, but i haven't had any signs of them at all...i haven't started spraying for PM yet, as the humidity levels here are pretty low an u usually won't run into mildew problems unless u bring them in on new plants or something...i'm runnin about 40% RH if i don't water that day, 60% RH if i do...temp hits about 87 max with the lights on, an about 72 at night... as it stands, they're at the point that i have to water them every day, sometimes twice a day, an that's in 5 gallon buckets...my really big jah, i have to water it twice a day...if i throw a half gallon on her i'll see the leaves starting to do the "i'm too dry" droop within a couple of hours...people say if u do a 5 gallon coco bucket u won't need to water every day, but i foresee myself doing two heavy feedings a day in flowering, an probably a third one on the big jah... i'm runnin a 165 CFM intake fan on the veg room, no exhaust fan, but i keep the side vents on the tent open...u can feel the air moving out the vents, so i know i'm getting good circulation...the flower room will have a 165 CFM intake fan an two 165 CFM exhaust fans...hoping i can use some of that hot air to bring down my heating bill lololol... i'll be flipping to 12/12 in about a week an a half...i'd be doing it now, but i've got one REALLY severe snapped stem on the big jah that i want to let heal some more first...i won't be doing anymore SC'ing or FIM'ing, just LST thru the next few weeks...i'll throw some more pics up tomorrow of where they're at since these, as well as once i get them in the 10x10...they're so crowded in there now it's not even funny smh... pics in the next post...
the plant that has the really tight in close up of the FIM'd top is a snow goddess...the semi close-up of the plant with the sativa dominant leaf pattern is a blue dream... since this pic was taken a week or so ago, they've put on about another 4 inches in height an have laterally expanded to the point that there is like almost no room for them to do anything but get taller... like, they seriously need to be flowered lol, but i've got to let that severe snap in the jah heal before i set her into flowering smh...u can't even see the floor thru the canopy at this point... i'll include some more close ups of where u can see how the FIM changed the growth patterns, an i might take them out of the room an do some pics with each strain to itself so u can see the differences...
here's some updated pics for anyone who cares to check it out…bout one week's growth since those pics i posted yesterday…i included a pic of the jah where i SC'd it a bit too heavy…that's the only thing i'm waiting on to heal so i can go to 12/12... can't recommend coco + advanced nutrients + FIM'ing + LST + supercrop enough…wild jungle in my basement!!!
