found some spider webs under my table

  1. im 2 weeks into veg. found some spider webs under my table. they look like normal spider webs. i found no webs on plants or anywhere else. I ordered some talstar pro a few days ago so i can spray the outside but now im thinking if i should spray my whole room.

how do i know they are smider mites or just regular spiders? i didn't see any spider

  2. for mite infestations, there's a few things to check for...

    a) white mottled spots on the leaves
    b) any dark or white flecks on the underside of leaves
    c) unexplained nutrient deficiencies
    d) mist the plants with water an see if any webs become visible

depending on the size of ur grow room, u have a few options...if ur plants are still small, u can easily wash them with a mild dish soap an a little bit of neem oil, just hand wash all the leaves, making sure to remove an crush any larvae/mites/eggs on the plant in the process...

u can also use a spray, an if ur seeing spider webs anywhere in the area, i'd probably go ahead an assume there are mites in the grow room...it might be an unnecessary precaution, but an ounce of preventative care is worth ten pounds of responsive maintenance, if that makes sense...

spider mites can be extremely easy to keep at bay, so long as u don't let them set up ANY KIND OF A FOOTHOLD...once they're imbedded in ur room, u will likely be fighting them as long as u grow there...

oh an check the bottom leaves first...that's where u'll find the first telltale signs...oh an humidity helps keep them at bay as well (higher levels slow down the reproductive cycle)...

  4. lol, you have spiders. Spider mite webs only show up when they are really bad and they usually go from the top down, with the first webs usually showing up between the fan leaf fingers. As suggested look for spotted leaves on the top and little pepper looking spots under the leaf.

  5. Alright thanks so much :). So I can spray talstar around my room? Nothing on leaves. Plus I live in the mountains I don't even know if mites live here. We just get big ass tarantulas. Crazy ass big spiders. I bought taster to spray around my house but might as well spray my walls down if it's safe for the plants.

  6. Never used talstar but in my experience if your unsure then its best to test spray on one plant, or part of one plant. A weekly neem spray regiment is what i recommend, that is safe and will keep most nastys away.

spidermite webs do not look like spider webs. spidermite webs are more comparable to spiderweb mold, which is more of a fuzz than a web. (or it looks like silkworms webs are on your plant, but you don't see any silkworms.)

do not get rid of your spiders, if there are spiders, that means they are eating things, if they are eating things, that means there are insects you DON'T want in your grow room, but they are eating them.

spiders and bats are very important animals who eat a lot of insects, which accounts for MOST of the life on our planet. if we didn't have spiders and bats, insects would easily overrun everything.

treat your spiders and bats with respect. appreciate what they do for you.

also you can try diatomaceous earth to get rid of spidermites and most other small insects. it is a dust you can mix directly into the soil, which is safe for beneficial microorganisms in your soil, safe for you, and safe for your pets. the dust is designed to penetrate insect exoskeletons and dry them out. DE is made from fossilized aquatic life, and is a natural pesticide. keep the harsh chemicals away from your plants at all costs.
