Breaking Bud - The Perpetual Trailer Grow

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by TravelTrailerGrower, Feb 25, 2015.

  1.  I'm back at it again! Got to busy to grow my own last year but I missed growing so much I've decided to start up my old trailer again, and do some improvements in the meantime! I was using a 1000W MH for flowering last time, I was a really poor man then, and it was loaned to me so It's what I used.

I just purchased a brand new 600w Switchable setup with a cool tube as well as a new exhaust fan. I also ran into borderline high humidity problems in the flower room last time during the summer heat so I purchased a dehumidifier just to have on standby when summer rolls around.

I was also able to snag some free Mylar from my last job for the ceiling and walls, as well as mirrored laminate that I've tacked down to the floor. It's got a slight film over it so it doesn't reflect the lights back up full strength, I'll have to keep an eye on the underside of leaves burning though once my plants get bigger.

As far as strains go, I was able to get two clones of Dr Krippling's Incredible Bulk as well as three White Widow clones to start off my grow this time. I'm searching still for AC/DC or another high CBD strain that I can purchase here in Washington state, as well as Shishkaberry clones, or the newer version of it that's now around.

Here are some pictures from my last Journal of my flower room, just to show what I was using before.

As you can see I really went down to the core of the trailer before putting it back together. And I was using free hard white plastic pieces back then, because it's what I had available. Below is another picture of the flower room before I started this newest "upgrade".

It was very usable before, but now, it's very reflective and efficient!

Keep in mind that other than my light setup, fan, dehumidifier, and the other normal assortment of smaller tools for growing this entire setup hasn't really cost me anything, almost all my materials where free, my bubble cloner probably cost more to put together than the trailer itself did, and I got it all for under $20 at walmart!

Those are my first cuttings from my Incredible Bulk and White Widow Mothers. I'm going to give Bonsai mothering a try, the two in 1 gallon smart pots are my mother plants, the three in the larger 7 gallon smart pots are the ones I plan on flowering first to get an idea of how well I like these strains. (The White Widow are the closest 3, the Incredible Bulk are the two in the back)

So excited to be growing again. Can't wait to add some new strains and to start working on edibles and ointments again!

  2. Hot damn, I like it. Hell you know what you are doing. Ill pop in and have a look now and then.

  3. Hey thanks! I wish I "knew" what I was doing, lol. I'd be lost if it wasn't for GC, so figured I'd log my trials and tribulations on here for others to learn from ;)

  4.
You turned a crapped out trailer into a grow room, It looks real good. You are frugal in design so you keep cost down.

Plants are looking fine. Hell you are on your way. :)

  5. Was away for the weekend, left my clones sitting in my cloner, no dome and just a 26 watt CFL lighting them. They look great, still no wilting on any of them, and one of the white widows is showing its first root, day 6, with no chemicals!
    Forgot the pic

  6. Took another White Widow cutting today and three more Incredible Bulk cuttings, now have 3 white widow and 6 of the bulks in the cloner.

  7. nice trailer brother im dropping in since I cant seem to save any cash had 9000 three weeks ago now im broke as f*** any who im bought to do my first clone run in e-z cloner. I don't really understand which light to buy for em. got 24 clones going in a cabinet 18 inch x 18 inchx 35inch could I use some cfls like four? or bust a T-5 sunburst

  8.  Hey thanks for stopping by! I totally understand the money thing, I'd try to figure out where my income tax return, but I'm pretty sure a good bit has to do with this right here ;)
Me personally, I'd go with 1, maybe 2 very low wattage CFL's in that cab, especially for clones. It's my understanding they don't need hardly any light at this point. I use a single 16w CFL sitting about a foot above/beside my homemade cloner and they seem to do great. At this point you want the plants to focus on root production, not leaf production. Up until well, today actually, I was going to make an update about it, I'd been using nothing but water, kept at 78F with a fish tank heater, and aerated with a pump and two air stones,  to root my clones. I am trying to stay 100% organic. After some research here last night I decided to start using 1tbsp liquid kelp and 1tbsp pure Aloe into the 1 gallon cloner I have. Both are high in the hormone that helps promote root growth, and of course both are 100% organic. I'll keep you posted on how this seems to affect how fast roots develop.

So I made a batch of soil up, I was not happy at all with how my girls where growing in the store bought organic potting soil. I transplanted two of my White Widow last night to see how they do before swapping the others over. Here's what I used in case anyone has suggestions or input.

    2 gallons compost
    2 gallons perlite
    2 gallons EWC
    2 cups glacier dust
    2 cups neem meal
    2 cups dolomite lime
    1/2 cup crab meal
    1/2 cup blood meal

I'm going to be watering with compost/EWC/molasses tea and plan on reusing from grow to grow. I know some of this stuff breaks down slowly, I figure it will just get better over time. Here's pictures of the two I transplanted last night, figured I'd use them for reference when I get home later today.

  10. Got everything switched to my new soil yesterday, and got the baby white widow planted in dirt. Still not a single sign of roots on any of the other 4 cuttings, if I don't see anything by day 10 on the newest 4 I'm going to bleach everything and try again, I should have cleaned it better before I started, it's all I can come up with...
Oh, I'm also now on a list for Sour Tsunami clones, should be ready in about 10 more days. And this strain was lab tested at 15% CBD and 0.77% THC. Talk about the perfect medication for when I have stuff to do and don't want to hurt while doing it!

Think I've also figured out my perpetual schedule. 3 mother plants,
Take clones every two weeks, two or three, and best one goes into veg, hopefully at pace of one every two weeks.
For the next twelve weeks I'll train them in 7 gallon pots with LST and topping, this means 6 plants in veg at a time, plus my 3 mother's puts me at 9.
So every two weeks I'll put one new plant into flower, and take one, or two out. Since I'm able to have up to 6 plants in flower at a time and be at 15 total, I can leave plants that need it in 10 weeks, up to even 12, using two week cycles.
I have the room and can either make a light move or add a second 600 watt HPS if I need it. 12 weeks vegetation should give me easy 4-8 ounces per plant using 7 gallon bags, and that's every other week.
This way I'm hoping to get one Sour Tsunami crop and one of either of the other two strains I stick with once a month.
I can't wait 12 weeks to start flowing right now, I'm giving them two more weeks then starting the best looking at that point, and leave the other 3 for 2 more weeks, and repeat.
This should give me good comparisons between shorter and longer veg times to see firsthand which way I like and if all the work training and the extra lighting cost for larger veg plants is worth it.

  11. Finally! Day 13 and one of my Incredible Bulk cuttings is showing a root nub. Still going to clean the whole thing with bleach water real good tomorrow when I have more time, but still a sigh of relief, the I.B. is what I want to concentrate on right now, the White Widow was just something to try out.

  12. So I spent two days away from my plants, come back, and no root nub on the clones, nothing showing at all. That was yesterday, but instead of cleaning my cloner I decided to make a new one out of an old Sears Ice box. It's much the same as a mini fridge, except it has a large tub in the bottom with a removable top to hold ice...

So I cut a hole in the top, and next time i clean it I'll cut one in the back for power cords to the pump and the water heater. Later I'll add a vent and or fan, but for now the door has to stay open to regulate the heat.

I also now am sure at least one of the Incredible Bulk clones is starting to root, on day 15, and now with sterilized equipment I'm sure things will start taking off. The White Widow clone that took root is doing great now in it's own little planter, it's grown an inch in the last two days.

  13. Just got done setting up my flower room for flowering, had been using it to veg to get this new operation up and going. Moved 4 of my plants into my veg area and left two, one White Widow and one Incredible Bulk. Sealed up my new door, switched my bulb over from my MH to my HPS, talk about a difference an extra 30k Lumen does to brighten up the room! Also hung up my ballast, re-ran my wiring so it hangs out of the way, and re-ran all my cords so they aren't across the floor anywhere anymore. I also purchased an air pump that's 3x stronger than the one I had for my cloner, it has duel  valves so each air stone now has it's own line. I'm still having issues with rooting my cuttings, still only had the one White Widow cutting that took  root, it's doing great and taking off fast now!

The last pic is of the coconut oil I made last week. Responses I got from people who tried it included...
"I've never tried acid or hard drugs before, but if they're anything like this, WOW!"

"I couldn't fall asleep because I couldn't figure out where the edge of the bed was and I was afraid I'd fall off."

"I woke up at 5AM so high I didn't know where I was until I turned on a light and realized I was at home"

"I should have waited til after the party to drink that Chai Tea, but good job, very good job!"

That and my GF didn't get out of bed til noon Saturday, and didn't do much more the rest of the day. Me? I loved the stuff, I compare it to eating pain pills, which I hate eating, but I love being pain free, which this stuff does! Can't wait to make more, it's going to go fast!!!

Oh, one thing to report. Since transplanting everything into my home made organic soil from the store bought "organic" potting soil all my deficiencies have cleared up. My plants are loving the new dirt!

your mix is very good, but it also reminds me to tell anyone that says hydro is is expensive to grow a brain.

you have a substantial investment to build a fine organic soil, its not cheap.

Yes you are right, I do have quiet a bit of money into my soil. I will be able to use it for multiple grows though with little extra added each time so it was more of an initial cost.

I've been researching DWC lately, mostly because some of the pictures I've seen of the day to day visible growth is amazing more often than not, which of course leads to some monster yields. Maybe when I have more funds to get nutrients I'll play around with it, I've pretty much got everything else equipment wise laying around in one form or another.

  18.
At the very least you can make a good bubble cloner, I made a 23 site cloner last night and have it in the greenhouse.

  19.  Thanks! I was reading through your log on your tag line yesterday, haven't gotten nearly even half way through it, was enjoying reading all the info and all the pretty pictures ;)    Is there a pic of your new cloner on there? I'm always interested in seeing how other people do things.

  20. So I went out and picked some wild plants yesterday, Dandelion, Horsetail, Clover, Lemon Balm, and Stinging Nettles. Got  a mix of dandelion, clover, and lemon balm compressing in a bucket that I'm going to use diluted for a foliar spray. Got a mix of nettles, horsetail, and clover being compressed, and another bucket of the same soaking. Going to try these as a "Bloom Booster" for flower, and still need to make up one for veg. I found this chart online, kind of going off of it along with some other info I found that goes more into detail about % of each nutrient for each separate plant.

I also have a few other of these that grow wild right in my backyard, so my new mission is a series of nutrients, sprays, and insecticides that are 100% organic and natural from the wild. Lemon Balm is great from what I've read to keep bugs away. I also am going to start a worm bin here in the next week or two.

Also an update on the two girls in flower, they are doing great, like day 10 and buds are starting to develop, not that you can probably see in the pics yet, but they are healthy and growing visibly daily.
