what do you weigh?

Discussion in 'Fitness, Health & Nutrition' started by Sunny Jim, Feb 25, 2015.

  1. As a former extreme fattie, I've always been obsessed with bodyweight. And I was just wondering what fitness oriented blades are weighing in at?

    I'll start.

I'm 6'0, weighing in at just a hair over 200lbs.

     232. Ok so I'm not fitness oriented but I'm trying. My agoraphobia makes getting out hard but I have taken up running, as well as a vegan diet. Lost 20 pounds last summer, put them all back on in the winter -__-

Hey man, I used to weight almost 280 so you'll get no judgement from me. Just remember not to be too hard on yourself, and that any progress is good progress!

  4. 180lbs, 6'1".

Been lucky that I've got a good metabolism, my eating has started to catch up on me now though so I'm having to be more careful and do more exercise.

Was around 170lb in 2012 when I was goin to the gym.

weight/scale... one of the most misleading measurements.

if you are trying to be physically active and lose fat (not weight) i recommend that you get a tape measurer and take note of your arms, legs, belly.
then see you notice decline in waist size, for example.
also it's about how you clothes fit.. do those jeans that were tight a month ago feel a lot loser now? then you are making good progress.

the issue with scales is water weight.

people can fluctuate in water weight by 5lbs easily.

the point to take away is that fat does not mean weight.

if you lose 10 lbs of fat and gain 5 lbs of muscle you'll look like a different person, but your weight only changed by 5lbs, something you can sweat out during a strenuous training session.

to give you an example 2 weeks ago i was around 162 lbs .. about 10 days later i clock in at 172.5 lbs. ... how is that possible?
very easy.. 162 was low, because i had a two very tough weeks of training and i was constantly dehydrated (not good). my weight should be around 165 if eat a lot and drink plenty of water an take a break.
which i did for a week, and started supplementing with creatine for recovery. i didn't gain 10 lbs of fat in a week.. but weight has increased.
i know (from years of experience) that when i get back to actively training my weight will drop to around 160 - 165 depending on the day.

if i was aggressively pursuing weight loss it's relatively easy to drop down to 150 - 155, but the question is do i need to drop weight or lose fat (those two are very different, and need different approaches).

... anyways sorry for the long post, but take weight scale measurements as a guideline but nothing more. consider weighting in every day at the same time, for example in the morning before any food/water intake.
