Leaves Turning Yellow During Flower

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by grassrocks, Feb 24, 2015.

  1. My plant is an autoflower in a 1 gallon pot of BAS and it's several weeks into flower.  Unfortunately the leaves are starting to turn yellow.  I don't think I'm overwatering or underwatering.  What could it be?

  2. depending on pot size, quite possible it's root bound

    or deficient

  3. Which leaves are turning, only ones on the very bottom?

  4. At first it was only the leaves on the bottom but almost all are now developing a yellow color.  It's a 1 gallon pot.  What should I do?

  5. Take a picture.

  6. most likely N deficiency

cant do much more than guess without more info

  8. Put it into a bigger pot with additional soil. I probably wouldn't continue to flower plants in 1 gallon pots.

  9. How far am I from harvest?

I'm using a 3 gallon Smart Pot next time.

  10.
How long have the plants been flowering? It looks like its only been a few/3 weeks into flower - so anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks left?

  11. Yeah I'd say 4-5 weeks into flower.  It's an auto if that makes any difference.  So if I don't transplant I've got a dead plant?

  12. Mu understanding from this site is that Autos don't like to be transplanted, even though I have before, but not one as big or as far along as yours. Might traumatize it if you transplant now. I like Smart Pots. Got my new grow going in 5 gallon ones. I'm doing 3 autos.

nitrogen deficiency IMO.  DO NOT transplant it  it's not going to grow any more roots.  mj plants grow new roots in the first 2-4 weeks of flowering, then that's about it.

some strains will cannabalize themselves as they uptake nutrients stored within the leaves.  You'd typically see colours like orange, yellow, red, purple.  this does not happen this early and it's all over the plant.  It's "programmed" into the plant's geneology.   What you have does not look like that.  It looks like it wants some nitrogen.  Yellowing from the bottom up.  Happens a lot in flowering because some flowering nutes don't contain enough, if any nitrogen.

    Hope this helps.

  15. How about an EWC slurry and some mulch?

    Just a thought,

  16. or an alfalfa, kelp tea.
or a fish hydrosylate and kelp tea.
    comfrey/dandelion tea.
    comfrey/ewc topdress.
I'd REALLY try and urge you to not use even 3 gallon pot either, in my honest opinion, unless you flower from clone(which you obviously don't, autos) I wouldn't grow anything organically in a container less than 5 gallons.
I use 12 and 15 gallon smarties and I can see the difference in the plants simply from a bigger container.
    Organics need room.
    Now I've never grown autos...
But i'm not a ruderalis guy..
perpetual, with moms and preserved genetics are the cornerstone of my potgrowing philosophies..
