Artificial Nostalgia?

  1. I was wondering if others experience a sort of "fabricated nostalgia" about times and places they've never been.  Sometimes when I see a movie, read a book, or hear a particular piece of music, I feel a sort of nostalgia towards that time and place.
This is not to be confused with just plain liking the place, but goes a step beyond.  For example, I think New Zealand is very beautiful, but I have no nostalgic feelings about it because I have never been nor have any other emotional attachment to that place.

Furthermore, what is it if that nostalgia applies to fictional places or time periods hundreds or thousands of years ago or in the future?

  2. One that sticks out clearly to me, whenever i listen to the music of the band 'America' i have that feeling strongly.
