Religion Manipulation

Discussion in 'High Ideas' started by spenbrow9898, Feb 23, 2015.

  1. Why if religion was created a lie to begin with to manipulate other people to act in a manner they want them too. I've always thought about this theory when I get baked. If it was, it's horrible how many wars and deaths came because of it. I wanna hear your thoughts guys

I mean, it's not like we can say forsure that our deities exist, we just have to have faith that they do. Honestly I believe in the big picture and I think it's all leading up to something fucken crazy soon... Psychological Armageddon.

  4. Yup. No different than somebody herding a group of sheep. Many people tend to "follow the pack" and avoid accepting the ugly truth about reality.

  5. That was always my biggest beef with religions... each claiming to be the singular correct church. The problem is that each of them have a fault. Somewhere along the way x religion was made to benefit some man in power, and it will always be that way.

That's not to say religions are evil though. People believe what they will and there's nothing wrong with it, until that religion gets in the way of rational decision making. For example, my mother will shit herself if I drink coffee because Mormonism said it was wrong. Coffee's got health benefits but she is too set in her religion to listen.

Its a shame to see how much people are blindly controlled by religion. It can be such a wonderful thing for some, but too much for others. I myself believe following in God requires a self-made journey, to not follow someone else who says what is best for me. Really, unbiased love is what will finally bring people together... its just a shame so many can't see that

  6. What if? I'm pretty much sure that's exactly what it is. That's why Karl Marx said religion was the opiate of the masses.

  7. Recently I went to the afternoon mass at Kings college Cambridge. The whole day I has visited churches and I began to question it. All of this has been created to praise a deity that may not even exist. And in my opinion if he did exist why would he want us to spend a large portion of our lives thanking him? Anyway slightly off topic lol just sharing y thoughts. The Kings college church is amazing though.

well because gratitude is the best act and expands the furthest at the fastest rate!

And unbiased religion can be a force for the good!  just talk more about what is good though :) and not the bad stuff :(

  9. And when religion is followed by no one, life will be guided by one big google terms of service agreement.

  10. Ever wonder why they refer to Jesus as a shepherd and his followers his flock of sheep? Sheep, sheeple.. it's like an inside yet obvious joke thrown in there by those using belief as a control mechanism. They were well aware that people are a herd animal that need direction..

  11. Did you come up with that all on your own?

His followers are called his flock of sheep because he keeps them safe from the wolves. Teaches them how to be weary of the wolf and teaches them how to beat the wolf at its own game. Please stop twisting what the Bible says. Only a sick and perverted person would do that.

And those that use the bible for means of manipulation and to control people are not true followers of the word. The bible was not meant to "control" the human race, or for others to use it as a controlling device. It was to teach us about the world around us and how it works so we didn't have to figure it out for ourselves.

  12.
    Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..

  13.
Dude, you're the one who's twisting the words of the bible. Seriously, you think the baby jeebus protects you from "wolves"? So nothing bad happens to Christians because baby jeebus keep them wolves away from his flock? lol Where is that in the new testament? Yeah, didn't think you'd be able to say where. Your baby jeebus can't protect a donut from a fatman.

And where in the bible does it tell you about how the world around us works? I don't think you've actually read the bible.

  14. I know. What if religion and all these fights and wars were really about just some guy (Jesus) who thought (really big ego) that he was the son of God. Or what if he was schizo and was hearing voices. We need to learn to be able to adapt to new ideas, because I think it's just SILLY

  15. The bible is a bunch of moralistic stories that were devised to teach life lessons. No different than the Greek gods, or the Romans gods. It's a storybook and bunch of bs.

  17. Your ignorance and arrogance are becoming entertaining.

  18.
That is a great answer when you don't have any facts to back up your religious argument.

I gave you facts about the question you asked. Just didn't quote the Bible.

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves” (Matt.10:16)

Psalm 23 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
    for his name's sake.
    4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,[a]
    I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
    You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
    forever.
