how long to veg for 5oz. more details inside

  1. hello everyone. This is my very first grow and i have 2 simple questions.

    1. Im going coco coir / perlite. probably 50/50. My ph going in is 5.9 to 6.0 but my Run off is at 7.15 I am aware that perlite has a normal ph of 7 to 7.25. so my question is should i be concerned about this? or should i make PH going in at 5.5 or even lower. Plants are doing fine btw.

    2. Okay this one is probably more important for me. My goal is to get about 5oz per plant. Right now i have 20 plants under 2  1000w MH lights. they are in coco coir and perlite as mentioned and in 7gallon  smartpots or otherwise known as cloth pots or w/e. They are sitting ontop of a 1 foot 4x4 table that i build and tilted 1/4 for run off. My ceiling is 8ft tall. so with my table and pot im already about 2ft off floor.

okay here is the question. To get 5oz per plant or close how long should i veg for? considering my height limitations. they are about 2 weeks in now.

if anyone wants to know im growing. reserva privada purple og#18. blue kush dinefem. deep chese dinafem and white widow dinafem blue dream from cali connections and girlscoutcookies (thin mint pheno) from cali connections.

  2. There is no set time.  Way too many variables to say what you as a particular grower will get from a plant.  You might veg for 3 months and only get 1 oz. per plant.  Next guy might get 5 oz. off a 30 day veg.  (Not Likely) One strain may produce, one may not.  I would say 45-60 days might get you there, but then after stretch you may hit your height limit. Are you going to run screens?  This is something you will need to figure out.  No one can really tell you.

  3. I don't wanna be an ass but I think you just read my headline and replyed. I gave all my variables even the strains. I did forget to add that my nuts and fox farms trio +calmag. If there is a variable that's will make it grow more or less plz let me know. I just don't want to waste time in veg if I don't have to.

  4. I am a beginner .......but i would top and lst try to get them bushy as i can while keeping under 2 feet in veg then start flower.... ( i read lots of journals lol)

  6. Thanks man good info

  7. Variables include micro managing everything including temp, humidity, watering and nutes, etc . But on top of that you have to budget in human error. Also, different plants grow .. different. Even if it's the same strain. You DO NOT and CAN NOT have enough info to answer your question. It's in the hands of the grower, pal.

  8. thank goodness ur not my dad. :)

  9. my humidity is 41. low temp is 65 high temp is 80. i water 1x day and give nuts every 3 days. my lights are on 18hrs a day and off every 6. they are on timers. my weed plants smell pretty good right now and they feel really smoth. i try not to breath so hard when im on them or else i'll lose .0098 of an oz since my breath is pretty hot. i wear sunglases when i look at them so that my dark brown eyes wont absorb any of the 1k light. i sure dont want human error. I also tell everyone in my house to keep it very quit becuase my plants dont like loud noises or they wont grow as much. they love it when i sing though. damn bro i can keep going on and on with variables this is to hard and making my head hurt. i think i need to smoke some more weed. peace out

  10. You.  Can't take "you" out of the variable.  Just because you labeled strains don't mean shit.  You ever run 10-20 seeds of a strain most breeders put out now a days.  You get 20 different phenotypes.  Even if it is from clone and one guy got 20 oz. per plant doesn't mean you will replicate.  Also not trying to be a dick this is just how it is.  The grower is the largest variable hands down.

  11. just wanted to point out that u said u've got 20 plants w/2 1000watt HPS lights, with a 4x4 tray under each light...

with that space, an that amount of lighting, getting 5 oz per plant would put u at 50 oz per light...that's 1400 gm off 1000 watts of light, a 1.4 gpw average...while that IS possible for the best growers, given ur new to growing, u should consider it a success if u hit half of that...that would be .7 gpw, an while it's not the realm of professional growers, its most certainly a respectable figure, especially for a newbie...

u can get 5 oz off a plant, but the size they would have to be, ur never gonna fit 10 of them under one 1000 watt lamp, an ur DEFINITELY not gonna fit 10 of them in a 4x4 tray...assuming ur plants are taking up a 5x5 area or so, once u count the lateral bushing, u could try raising the light a bit to give u a 6x6 coverage area, but then ur gonna lose weight across the whole harvest, as ur entire canopy will receive less intense light, tho it will be a wider canopy...it's a trade off...

as far as veg time an plant size, as others have said, that depends on a variety of factors...generally speaking, probably 1 1/2 - 2 months of veg time...i'd be tryna have them about 2 1/2 feet tall (not counting the pot) with a lateral footprint of about 2x2...but of course, that could get u 3 oz, could get u 7 oz, or anything else under the sun, depending on ur specific circumstances...

one trick that can work to increase yields is to prolong flowering...u do this by flipping to 12/12, keep it at that cycle for the first 4-5 weeks, then return to a 16/8 schedule (or even a 14/10)...the plants will take a couple weeks longer to finish out, but u'll get a bigger yield for ur troubles...the trick is to make sure they're KNEE DEEP in flowering before u re-extend the light period, an don't exceed 16 hrs of light at all...

  12. I've never hear of this trick before. Pretty interesting. I would think switching the light cycle like that would stress them out and cause hermi's

5.9 is fine but you can go as low as 5.5. 5.9 is a bit on the high end for me. In coco I feed at 5.5 for veg and 5.7 for bloom.

EDIT I meant to quote the OP.

  14. i will definitely post my yields once im done with my grow.

  15. Yield has to do with canopy and light. If your plant can take up a 3x3 area and have no light penetration, you have the potential of a gram per watt, depending on how skilled you are as a grower. From what I can see, you know virtually nothing... You are in a very dangerous medium if you don't know what you're doing. Your ph knowledge is not up to par, I know you don't have any idea how to deal with the cal-mag situation in coco or salts carbonates and bicarbonates.
