3rd grow - aeroponics/NFT - 1800w

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Grow Journals' started by zeitate, Feb 22, 2015.

  1. Hi all,

I've decided to keep a journal for my third grow. With the same system produced 600 grams in the first grow and about 150 grams in the second grow (root rot problems). Yeah, those are pretty low numbers.

I've attached some pictures of my system. I'll be using 3 x AGRO 600w lamps in a 57 square-foot space.

Growing this time OG Kush, Malawi and Purple Kush.

I'll be posting pictures at least once a week.

Any questions, suggestions, ideas you might have shoot away any time. I'm a newbie so any help matters. :)

  2. Here are the girls in their 10th day since I planted the rooted seeds into the rockwool cubes and their 4th day since I moved them into the system.

I currently have to lamps one 18h/day

For the longest time I have been running RDWC with great results, just want to try a zero veg SoG now. Hope this takes less to maintain then SCroG.

Do you know what caused your root problems? This has been my only concern with aero. Seems like heat transfer in the tubes would be high even with chiller . IDK

I haven't used a chiller yet, so the temperature of the water inside the reservoir tends to be almost as high as the room temperature, and probably a bit higher inside the tubes. For this grow I'll try to keep the room temperature at about 23.5C. Some say that 23.8C is optimal but I don't know. :) I think it might be a good idea to keep the reservoir somewhere outside the actual growing area.

From what I've read, it's a bit tricky with water temperature. At a higher temperature nutrients are more available to the plants to be absorbed. But the downside is that water holds less oxygen at a higher temp.

Don't really know what caused the root rot. Maybe some dead root tissue inside the tubes, maybe the lower quality roockwool I used...

Anyways in trying to avoid this kind of problem, I'll be using some beneficial enzymes this grow. Hopefully it will help.

The higher nute temperture will also cause unfavorable bacteria to grow in the nutrients.
You could use a insulated container of some description either store bought or DIY and add frozen pop bottles to chill it.
60 to 67F degrees is optimal for maxed oxygen uptake and it will prevent unfavorable bacteria growth

I am just starting my first high pressure aeroponic grow. I am using a 115 psi pump with .016 stainless steel misting nozzles with 70 psi anti leak springs designed to produce droplet sizes between 5 and 50 micron.

    My first post !

I will be starting a thread in the next few days on my system ( 4 plants in a 3.5ft igloo cooler under a couple 100x3w LED panels )

Your root rot could easily be related to your warm nutrient temperature if not that ( I bet it is) then your mist duration is to long or the mist cycle is not spaced far enough apart.
