Ok, so I decided to build my big box primarily for flowering (I have a small cabinet that Ive been using to veg) because I couldnt find a tent that fit in my house. Going in the box will go 4 Super Skunk girls that have been vegging for 5 weeks. Would have mostly finished this up today except I got the wrong sizes cut for the doors which is going to cost me a lil more cash. Heres where Im at so far. Im not a master carpenter but Im not afraid to try. As long as its solid and has the space I need Im happy. This will be a DWC grow box.

    So Far cost are:

4 sheets of 3/4" birch plywood (i wanted cedar couldnt find any): $176
    Framing wood 2x3 studs: $13
    Screws: $8
    Gap Filler: $5

I will need advice on lights and fans. Im thinking leds, but Im not sure what size.
The current dimensions on the interior are 27" deep, 72" high, 40" wide. Any tips would be greatly appreciated thanks!

  2. Enough led's to fill up that puppy wouldn't be a walk in the park financially by any stretch of the imagination probably run you north of 150$. If you go CFls it'd be much cheaper but you'd probably wind up with less light for more heat. My suggestion is to go with some T5s for your main lighting and some led strips for side lighting. Just search either term on amazon, you can get a decent 2ftx2ft T5 light rig from Apollo sun systems with a lowering kit included for 60$ on amazon (great deal).

  3. As far as fans you can get the kind that plug into USB power sources and put a couple around the box or just get one larger unit and place it at the top. What are you thinking for filtration during flowering for smell? Is that an issue? Also for reflectivity you should either paint the inside of the box a highly reflective white or use Mylar emergency blankets (very cheap and effective).

Ordering Black n White poly from amazon, Still not sure on lights or fans. Leaning towards led because of heat control. Budget not really an issue here. Dont really wanna spend a arm and leg for something that doesnt work well though.

  6. As far as fans go i probably will go as big as 4 inch because my hole saw only go up to 5.5 inch :) Theres a bunch on amazon so many to choose from ill smoke and sleep hopefully someone comes along and nakes awesome suggestion :)

  7. Trying to decide between 4" duct fan and 120 mm computer fans...

  8.
If budget isn't an issue, I would recommend getting something a bit better than that. You won't regret it. Try a 400w mh/hps combo, and a 4" inline fan with carbon filter. Also, a wall mount or clip on circulating fan.

  9. Ok Ive never used an hps light but I fear having to control the heat in the summer, from reading so many threads about them lol

  10. I'm currently using LED lights for the same reason. Heat control!

  11. Ok decided on the Mars 2 400, for the price reviews, and small space i have i feel like i will get most bang for my buck, now we wait!

  12. Ok guys heres the finished product. My only concern is it light proof enough. In some of the photos you can see light coming from the door, and a small amount coming from the vents. Im thinking the light will get out just a little but cant get in. Or do i need to find a fix asap?

Light coming out is not as big an issue as light coming in. I can assure you that if light is coming out it is getting in. Do you have any holes for exhaust?

  15. I put a little weatherstripping around the door.  Creates a nice seal.  Makes things quieter and perfectly light proof.  You can see photos in my signature.

  16. Yes I have one single hole at the top for exhaust with 4 inch fan pulling through it. 6 inch would been great but it was a bitch getting the 4 inch in there.
