The Grow Desk

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by Low_Key, Feb 15, 2015.

  1. Hey all this is my stealth(ish) desk grow. The grow op started about 2 weeks ago by my estimation, now with the plants being in their first week of growth. It's my first indoor grow, done primarily to supplement my own consumption which is considerably significant. Hope you all enjoy yourselves and leave lots of feedback. Pictures provided below.

  2. Wow, I really like this! The only suggestion I would make is maybe move the light closer (a couple of those sproutes look like they're stretching)

What are the bendy light socket to outlet thingys called? Like, wgat would I type into amazon to find them? :)

  3. Hey there! Thanks for the tip on the lights your right a few of them have stretched I'm adding another cfl and bringing them lower to increase coverage. As for the light thing I found it by searching "flexible bulb converter" in amazon and you get a ton of different kinds and lengths. Also if it interests you the same company makes bulb splitters which combined with the flexible bulb converter is one beast of a light source.

  4. Nice lowkey! How many lights are you gonna use, and what wattage?

I'm currently running three 23 watt cfl's putting out 1600 lumens a piece I'm going to add one or two more when i get additional equipment to improve ventilation because its all i can manage to keep it at 82 F with the current setup.

  6. In this early stage 75watt will be enough, but later when they are bigger they really like to receive more light.
82F is high for such a low wattage, what are you gonna do when its full summer with more lights?  :ey:

  7. Yea I'm actually waiting on a shipment of different spectrum LED's right now better for the vegging phase as I believe these bulbs are better for blooming. As far as temp goes I plan on just increasing the ventelation through the box with a forced air exhaust and a filter, hopefully that will prove to be enough otherwise I might have to look into micro cooling systems.

  8. Update, seems like my tap waters a little too good and is iron deficient so I've got some cal mag on the way but the plants have definitely been showing signs of iron deficiency and slowed growth. Also added a new bulb splitter.

  9. Got in my new bulbs run much cooler so I've been able to repurpose all but one fan I had inside. One of the fans I removed I used to rig up my own diy inline fan with a carbon filter which I then hooked up to the desk grow, tested it and everything using a smoke test for odor and visual particulate. I'm going to be getting new bigger containers for the plants in here and probably get rid of the ghetto Pyrex tray shallow water cultures I made (they get low within a day).

  11. Oh, almost forgot to mention, I rigged up two mini cloner boxes, I'm just waiting on a new air pump and containers to get them 100% up and running but most the hard works done! :)
