Surfboard shaping

Discussion in 'The Artist's Corner' started by Distrex, Feb 15, 2015.

  1. I moved up to oregon about two years ago. When I first got up here, 8 about an hour from the beach. So I said fuck it, it's time to learn to surf. I looked around and didn't see any boards I wanted. So I figured I'd just make my own.

Not sure how interested everyone is, but figured I'd post up a few pics of the first board I shaped. This was all done by hand, with very few power tools.

The foam was insulation from home depot. The stringer was a wood fence slate. Enough with the reading. Here are a few pics of the process.

  3. Thank you :D

I'm in the process of shaping another one for my wife. I've got the board all shaped, just need to glass it and do the art work. I've gotta come up with something more girly for here. Haha
