Where Are You?

Discussion in 'Philosophy' started by NorseMythology, Feb 13, 2015.

  1. Are you where your body is or where your mind is?

  2. I have asked people this and they dunno wtf I mean all the time. I feel as though some have become so regimented in their ways they only close off portions of their feeling. Personally I had a big transition once I began to realize left vs. Right and up vs. Down (Chakras included).

I would say I'm ever changing, up and down simultaneously through my Inhales and exhales. Biggest blockage being my mind, and pelvic on the bottom.

  3. I cant pretend to know what you are talking about lol.

I was thinking along the lines, say you are at a class or meeting that is boring as hell and you drift off into thought or daydreams or other places. Even though your body is present, your mind is not, so where are you?

  4. Well I'm here but I'm really somewhere else. Where that is I'll just have to wait and see...

  5. My body is constantly doing my daily routine. Work, smoke, eat, sleep, make love with my wife. But my mind is always taking me some place else

    Haha, I was probably high:p

In that sort of scenario you present, I've come across it too many times to not attempt to bring my self back to awareness. If and when it does happen that I'm thinking of something irrelevant to what is in front of me...I'm in lala land lol. I would think your consciousness exists slightly above your body, as it is immersed in thought.

As I've grown in awareness, blind spots appear, leading me to see that you are truly capable of feeling outside of your body, your aura. Sometimes I think it may be of the enlightened person to feel mainly outside of himself so as to be selfless, bringing most joy to your being.

  7. I'm in a different place than I was a moment ago...

And even now i'm in a different place than that.

  8. My mind is everywhere, but is rooted to my body, which Is in california.

But as a child, I'd close my eyes and literally felt like I was moving past some stars at an incredible speed. I used to think I could reach to whiteness (somehow I just know it's there).

  9. It is indifferent to me where I am to begin for there shall I return again.

  11. I am both here, nowhere, and everywhere all at once.  My mind does what it wants most of the time, my body is here physically when I look down at it, but my true self when performing self inquiry is actually nowhere to be found... very mysterious indeed.

  12. I think we've already mapped the answer to that question.

The more primitive/older peoples would define themselves by their village.   Then it became their city, then their country. Now you have the more enlightened of our species defining themselves by the species as a whole.

It seems (as most things) to be subjective and the more aware one is, the more broad encompassing the answer becomes.  Saying we are "on Earth"  seems to be the most accurate explanation for both mind and body since we are both physically on Earth, as well in the the same mindset as an Earthling might be - give or take.

  13. But where are you when you are on Earth? Earth moves. The solar system moves. Even the galaxy is in motion.

  14. I think dreams prove your body is just a shell and reality is just electrical impulses in your brain tissue.

  15.

Absolutely agree, it all moves and the picture gets bigger and bigger.

  16. Since I believe my soul can leave my body I would have to be where my mind is - for my body is just a container.

I think "where" refers to space, which doesn't actualy exist. Space exists as a construct for us to understand how energy interactions are organized. Our brain creates space in the same way a computer game is just a reading of code.

That being said, "we" are "where" our sphere of influence resides.

What we call "I" refers to the energy that makes up our conscious. And our body is the perception of said energy.

So really, we are inside our "body" but only because that's how we describe it. Its really just our energy being organized. The mind and body are parts of the same intelligence

  20. The positioning of the body can be determined by many parameters. Positioning of the mind can be determined by comparing mental objects/states.
