Switching nutrients for DWC

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by mrvegas, Feb 12, 2015.

  1. So as some of you know I had issues with my first grow using advanced nutrients sensi line. Seems I had either deficiency or toxicity issues and adjusting the PH was impossible. Now I've got some blueberry and girl scout cookies ready to go and decided to try general hydroponics 3 part this time around. Does anyone have experience using GH in their DWC setup? Any advice at all? Thanks!

  2. I used GH 3 part series with my first grow And had success. On my present grow I'm rolling with GH flora duo. I'm really more impressed with these nutes and the way my plants are looking.

  3. I made the switch to GH trio , the basic stuff. I like that you can customize it for different strains.

  4. I run the whole Gen Hydro line...

The 3 part base, grow, bloom...

Rapid Roots, Diamond Nectar, I use the Floral Blend, and also Armor Si...

    I use distilled water

  5.
I used that for my first try at hydro.  Granted I have gained a lot of knowledge on growing through experience and school, I thought this was an easy introduction to growing.

they have feeding schedules on their website and just stick to those you should have some great buds!

  7.
Agreed. In my experience, this is the  best starting point for growing seed plants.

GH says to use the 3-2-1 ratio (3 parts grow, 2 parts micro, and 1 part bloom) for young seed plants. They also list the 1-1-1 ratio for 'general purpose'. I have found that (for me) seedlings seem to do better with the 3-2-1 ratio for veg while mature clones seem to like the 1-1-1 ratio better.

I  also have found that I get the best results when I start 12/12 with the same 1-1-1 ratio for the 'stretch' in the first 2-3 weeks and adjust the ratio gradually to get to the 1-2-3 ratio.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

  8. it's the only brand i've ever used[IMG]

follow the recommended doses, beginning at 1/4 strength (around 300 ppm, depending on your water ppm)

also, if and when you run out of grow (it'll be the first to go) you can run the lucas formula (1 part Micro to 2 parts Bloom, roughly 900ppm at full strength. i generally dilute it a bit to around 700-800 depending on plants needs)

i've been doing this for the past year and my plants love it[IMG]

  9. In regards to using GH flora 3 part without the grow component (what's referred to as 'lucas formula'), I would just offer that in my experience, it did not work nearly as well for me in veg or in the first half of 12/12 as using all three parts (just my personal experience).

I grow primarily from clones that are typically anything from several months old to years old, so I don't have any personal experience using it with seed pants (I know others who have, but that's anecdotal evidence at best).

My experience using the 'lucas formula' (comparative to results using all three parts as a 'control'), I witnessed less vigor over all in both plant and root growth. Less healthy looking plants over all, and slower growth in both veg and in the first half of 12/12. That is just my personal experience with it. Your mileage may vary.

I can show that this is the results I get in veg with all three parts; The first 10 days in the veg table with my current vegging clones (about 10 months old now), and day 23 with my last batch:

Pardon me. I wasn't disputing any post or anybody. You aren't the only one who refers to using the lucas formula, and in fact I didn't dispute anything, I only offered my own personal account using GH fora series sans the grow component.

I worded my post very carefully so as not to step on anyone's toes (I simply gave my own account, and I made it clear that my experience was not with seed plants), Apparently toes were sticking out farther than I thought, so I apologize if I stepped on yours.

So out of curiosity, what was your veg time for those?

Hmm, this was the original post in the thread:

I guess that means any experience or advice that doesn't oppose someone else' opinion? I don't think that is possible.

Again, I was only presenting an account of my own personal experience.

  14. and even still, argumetative

do you even smoke?? it's 4/20 why are you so hostile[IMG]

    Hostile? Argumentative?

Dude, I fucking APOLOGIZED for however I offended you, and you still have the nerve to come back and berate and insult me?

You tell me I'm going to 'get banned' for posting something that you disagree with and then APOLOGIZING for whatever it was that hurt your feelings and got your panties in a wad?

The audacity of some never ceases to amaze me.
