noooooope My bro.. i actually have defoliated A LOT!! If you go back and look thru the plant's progression they were MUCH MUCH bushier.. a few days after i flipped the lights i did a MAJOR defoliation, but during the stretch they spit out even more fans. I defoliate every time i am in the tent i pluck a few leaves here or there to get the light penetration to all the buds. So i repeat, I have done a LOT of defoliation to my girls.. I have pulled off well over half of their fans.... Actually Probably close to three quarters of the fans have been removed. I do this to promote Bud growth and to get the strong light intensity to hit as many of the colas as i can much love
The Lemon Thai x Bubba Kushes just began their 3rd week of real flowering. the Aurora Indica from seed just started flowering a couple days ago they just finally showed sex after being under 12/12 for 2+ weeks. the superman OG is in its first week of real flowering Thanks! & Yes LED can be great, there are a LOT of successful LED growers around GC... I learned basically everything i know about LED from Trolling the Marijuana forums like GC & using google for R+D Really it's pretty simple.. If you want to run LED just MAKE SURE YOUR LIGHT SETUP HAS THE CORRECT LIGHT INTENSITY AND PAR READINGS. Some of the lower quality LED lights do NOT have strong enough intensitites to flower top shelf buds by themselves... so you need to BOOST your Intensity somehow to get to the PAR Range you need to flower TOP shelf cannabis. Ah, so you're the fella My Old Girls are just finishing week 2 of flower. BAS Flower Power on order! And I added the 2nd Mars 300w v1 LED today. So now they are under two Mars 300w and one Apollo 240w. Updating the pics in my photo album and Stunted Hemlocks thread momentarily. So I'm guesses you would advice I cut the fans off?
Haha, not quite. I would advise you to do whatever you feel is best for ya baby girls brutha!! Me personally, I cut any of the fans that are shading other bud sites around start of flower. Did it until nearly all of the bud sites were exposed. The plants will spit out new fans thru stretch... but then those ones are the last ones and the plant focuses more on its buds. Here is my biggest (Lemon Thai x Bubba) cut next to my Superman OG cut, had them out today Much love Yall!!

I think im going to get a 4x4 tent. It sounds like a good size to work with. Is there much room to move around and work inside it?
Right now the tent I'm In is 30 inches both ways. Perfect size for 6 plants. I got the 4x4 so I can up my plant count going to use the 4x4 as flowering tent and use the current tent as veg tent. Or may just run two flower tents at once LOL
you realize colas have no effect on photosynthesis and by defoliating you are decreasing the potential of your cola sizes and overall yield? Fwiw, I never pull a single leaf off a plant in my garden. Leaves are fully responsible for the yield and speed of growth. The reason there is a boost in growth after stressing the plants by topping or defoliating is because the plant thinks it's dying, so it throws out more growth immediately, rather than focusing on growing in actual size. You can achieve the same with an SST, without the stress and potential for bananas in flower. And each leaf you remove is a sugar leaf (what plants use in the final swell) that stores energy for growth when the plants cannibalize at the end. I have done a lot of reading , but lack in true experience... So thank u for chiming in Poke! I've seen a few side by side test grows testing extreme defoliation methods and saw good things, so that's where I picked the method up. Not sure where I saw these but a quick Google search for "should I defoliate cannabis " yielded a ton of results and mixed opinions. For a peaceful folk, us marijuana growers sure do like to argue about defoliation! A lot of heated opinions on this subject... I really hope my yields are not decreasing because of my defoliating. That's the last thing I want. Welp, can't undo the pluckin.... So i Guess we will see come chop!! Info in this thread below was some of the many info I read when researching cannabis defoliation methods. Def contributed to my decision.
