What is the whole point of life if life has an ending?

  1. I came up with this thought getting high once. I still wonder. Any ideas?

The finiteness of life is what gives it meaning.. (+ an Everlasting life would be more-than-tedious).

  4. What has an ending? Life? What the fuck is life? You think death destroys or adds? Waves on the beach may knockdown a sand castle, but the sand still remains.

  5. Maybe to create some life before ours ends.
    Evolution and stuff :)

  6. There is no point of anything. We make up the point.

  7. What is the point in living if there is no ending or at least an illusion of an ending.  You'd really want to live forever on this planet?  You don't think it would get boring?  There is much more point to a temporary life on this planet than an eternal one imo.  Hell I already feel like I've done and felt pretty much everything there is to and I'm only 23.

  8. Life is just a stage. Also, sometimes dirt builds up, life gets dull and we start to think that way. Yet the rain comes and wipes it away, a new world emerges with the suns reveal. A new life dawns.

  9. Well I'm only 43 but it  seems to me that everything is changing and technology is getting better, new things come around.  Has not got close to boring to me yet. Another 43 or 4300000000000000000000000000043 would be great.  My point in living would not change if there was no precieved end to it.  At least I dont think it would.  Not that I led a secluded life (I have traveled and done lots since I was 10) but I have done tons since I was 23.  Seems an eternity ago.  Trust me, you have not even started to come close to doing and feeling pretty much everything there is.  In fact, you are barely getting started.  Good luck and enjoy.

  10. Technology is great and all sure and I'm interested to see it develop.  Not bored of life never said I was, but if I was here in this vessel forever then I'd certainly get bored at some point.  It definitely would change in some way, I think you'd be surprised by how much things would change if there was no end.  I've felt and experienced things on drugs much stronger than anything it's possible to feel with a regular state of consciousness, so normal life doesn't have much to offer me now in terms of excitement, just more toned down versions of what I've already experienced.  Which is fine though, after all I've been through a nice settled down existence is appealing, just wouldn't want to live "here" forever, would like to live forever though.

  11. This world and existence is engulfed in duality. I cannot help but think this finite timespan of ours has some sort of an infinite other side to the coin. What would this be without death?

  12. maybe that is the point of life, that it ends, so make use of it...

like Slug (atmosphere) once said in a song

"And if I did have a choice
I'd never want to live forever
Just let me have a voice so I can make my points
I can't imagine running a race with no finish line
Just let me keep my pace and make to most of my time"

  13. We as human beings have fought war after war over what is really next, is it a high and ever knowing god, is Jesus not real and Islam the true religion? Maybe neither. We think of death as the end, but it may not, this life is only the beginning. For all we know after death we go to the 4th demension or to another planet or spiritual plain where we see our past love ones and laugh at our past fears of our own mortality. Death is just the start of the next journey

  14. IS there a point to life is the preceeding question. If the answer is no, then what is the question?

If yes, THEN you can explore the possibilities of a point to life.

  15. Death gives life urgency.

Compare a champion sports game that last a couple hours versus a game that last forever.

    Which one is more exciting?.

  16. Since there is no real point to it all, it's whatever point you want it to be.. and the only way you'll really find your point to life is by looking in and not looking out. There's no point in trying to get the point from someone else..

  17. why assume life has a point?

  18. I don't think there is "a point" to life. We are a huge cosmic product of evolution, that happens to have evolved a conscience compared to other branches that have not (at least not at this point).

That in turn should make you grateful for this amazing short span you are here on this planet. Life is an amazing coincidence - so enjoy the fuck out of it while you are here.

  19. To have lived :yay:

  20. Everything has an ending. What's the point of doing anything if it's going to end?
