What are brilliance percs?

  1. Hello GC! First post here. I'm looking to pick up an ash catcher for my new bong and I ran into an awesome one with an inline perc and two brilliance percs. I have no idea what a brilliance perc is and if it's any good. If you guys could explain that to me and how it compares to other percs, that would be awesome. Thanks for the help and glad to be a part of the GC Family.

  2. Sounds like a marketing gimmick for a cheap piece of Chinese garbage.

  3. Yeah that's what I'm worried about. All I could find about them is that they are supposedly really good for oil, but I still have no idea what brilliance percs do

  4. Never heard of it man, sounds kind of silly though.. Do you have any pictures?

  5. Yeah the ash catcher is made by Maverick. It looks like a quality piece but I would like to know what the brilliance percs are

  6. I hope the pics are helpful. The "brilliance percs" are at the top above the inline perc

  7. Looks like a version of a disc perk to me. Either way, it looks like overkill, especially if you have a bong that already has percs.

  8. Yeah, a brilliance perc (the ones by maverick atleast) are basically a honeycomb with less diffusion. That's why its good for oil. But a regular honeycomb is probably better anyway because of how airy they are. Not all of the holes will fire anyway while hitting it, but when you clear it it'll make a huge difference.

And i'd avoid that ashcatcher to begin with. The thing looks like it would function terribly. Plus all of the water would spill out from a couple hits if that top perc actually gets filled. And then why put an ashcatcher on something meant for oil anyway? To be honest I don't get the point of any ashcatchers really. They make the piece topheavy and the piece still gets dirty.
